Famous for the film "Rosemary's Baby" and as John Lennon's residence. The design is striking up close and from afar in the park. Private residences.Visited May 2023Written 13 June 2023
- Ace5150Nuneaton, United Kingdom98 contributionsOver zealous doormen spoilt my visit.Let's be honest, Dakota Building is famous for Rosemaries Baby and John Lennons murder, not much else. The building looks very grand and stands out right next to Central Park. Unfortunately, whilst many people were taking photos of "THE" doorway where John Lennon was killed, the doorman was quite abrupt to tourists who got "too close" Whilst it IS signposted as Private Property, it's quite obviously an attraction (if that's the right word) for tourists all over the world, so a little tolerance wouldn't go amiss. I did try to engage in conversation with the two doormen, but they were having none of it. A bit of a spoiled visit, it has to be said.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 12 October 2023
- sfuhere780 contributionsSad siteVisited here to see the spot where John Lennon’s life was so tragically ended. Perhaps surprisingly, there is no plaque or memorial so you will have to use your imagination. Be careful to stay on the public path - the doormen will zealously guard the private property beyond. As far as I know, Yoko Ono still owns the apartment here.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 November 2023

Such a historical and majestic building overlooking Central Park. Has so much history about it too! Was great to see, on a very busy road/corner.

I guess if you're a Beatles fan, this is a huge deal. But, it's a relatively unremarkable Manhattan residence/condo/hotel outside of Central Park. I didn't know what to expect, so was underwhelmed. My friend, a huge Beatles fan, loved it.

The Dakota is a really nice building in its own right. The sad part about it is that this is where the Beatle, John Len on was shot dead.

Passed by here many times going to my in-laws. When I found out it was the Dakota, I walked past. Had a weird feeling. The doorman was friendly, if not cautious. The doorman are right there when people approach. They will answer questions, but I didn't ask.

I've always admired the stately architecture of this building which sits right on the edge of the Park. Sadly this was where John Lennon was shot while entering one night and the memorials at Strawberry Fields in the Park are a suitable salute.

I passed by The Dakota in December 2021 during my walk in Central Park. I exited the park at 72nd Street. The Dakota is famous for being the home of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. It has impressive architecture and is a good photo opportunity.

O Dakota é um prédio meramente residencial, não funciona como hotel; a reserva para espetáculos da Broadway poderá ser feito com concierge do hotel em que ficar hospedada.
