Yes this is one of the most famous jazz clubs on the planet, if not the most famous. I read here that some customers have had unpleasant experiences at the Village Vanguard. For the past year I've been attending events at the Village Vanguard wIth...More

I hope they never change the VV. You get to be up close to the talent and it feels like a walk back in time. Go there at least once!

One of the great historic clubs. Tiny basement space (room for a little over 120) so intimate interaction with musicians is real. No food but not outrageous prices for drinks. Be prepared to sit very close with other audience members but some of the greatest...More

You can't do better than the Vanguard on Monday night, with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra playing. Composed of some of NYC's best musicians, it's a great ensemble. Other nights, well-known jazz artists. The club ain't much for esthetics, but it's still a "must visit "

The Village Vanguard is still one of the most intimate and comfortable jazz venues in New York. You're close to the musicians, the sound is great, and the room is surrounded by a visual treasure chest of photographs of performers. It all reeks of history....More

We went New Year's Eve and heard The Bad Plus! It was a superior event despite the verrrry cold weather. What a super venue to listen to great jazz!

Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted

this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to

Depending on the maturity of your 14and16 year old, I would say yes. The atmosphere was congenial and low key. The music is the focus!

There is no dress code except maybe the usual "shirt & shoes" requirement. It's a very casual place. People are more likely to dress for the place they'll be dining before or after.

Definitely book in advance, easy to do online. Also arrive early to get a good seat- space is limited.
