As soon as you walk through the door.....you get dog. dog smell. dog bark. hipsters w/ dogs. It's killing what was one of the first "good beers" bars. PS...the music is too loud.

Went there to try some new beers. Awesome selection, from the looks of it the cocktails appeared good as well. Pretty cool that it's a dog-friendly place as well. Will definitely come back soon.

The whole time we were in DBA they were playing 90's grunge music - I was so happy! The bartender (self-appointed cicerone) was very knowledgeable about the huge beer list. He was able to take a handful of comments from us and lead us to beers we'd never heard of before that we loved. We didn't repeat a drink the... More

We found this bar in a review listing and we liked the look of it so thought we'd seek it out. It didn't disappoint! The selection of beer, lager and spirits was fantastic and our host, Sacha couldn't have been more generous and helpful. The atmosphere at d.b.a was very relaxed and we spent a great couple of hours there... More

DBA has a great beer selection, knowledgeable staff and great chilled atmosphere. The outdoor backyard is great for the Spring, Summer and Fall.

After visiting d.b.a and LOVING it, I am now reading the other reviewers and really grateful for my experience. Maybe I hit this place on a good day at a good time with a good bartender? Either way, if I lived close to here this would be my home away from home bar. I loved that their was room inside... More

DBA doesn't have too many frills but what it does have is a nice place to grab a well priced beer on a saturday and drink it outside. They have a great selection of draught beers and a lot of nice liquors as well. The food menu looks good, to be honest I haven't sampled it very well but they... More

Such a difficult combination to find in New York City! I went here after a show and met up with a couple of friends and we enjoyed some fine beer while relaxing in a smoke-free atmosphere out back under the stars. Well, you know, the stars we could see. In any case, I highly recommend this spot for relaxing with... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
