There is much to explore in Central Park, and this is a unique area that is hilly and wooded with multiple different paths that allow you to get lost a bit as you stroll through. Less crowded than other areas. Nice views of The Lake from an elevated position. I walked through here after visiting the Bethesda Fountain taking the long way around The Lake over to the Bow Bridge.

I walked through The Ramble in January 2022 during a very long walk in Central Park. I found it to be a very peaceful place and I felt like I was walking in a forest. I walked from Belvedere Castle in to The Ramble and then on to Bow Bridge. I had a map of Central Park which helped me take the right paths.

The Ramble is 38 acres of woodlands with a maze of trails in Central Park from 73rd to 78th Streets. There are a lot of bird watchers who come here because there are 260 species to be found. It's gorgeous!

Very nice walk. Temporarily remove yourself from the city environment without traveling upstate.
Lots of birds to set your sites on. Paths taking you here and there...
Not as packed with tourists as they flock towards the fountain and bridges.

The Ramble refers to the area of Central Park between The Lake around 73rd Street and Shakespeare Garden and Belveder Castle at 79th Street. This is a area of Central Park where you'll find footpaths winding through wooded area. You'll pass nice bedrock formations, streams, interesting flora and lots of rural space.
The Ramble is one of those places where the traffic of NYC seems to disappear and you start to forget that you are in one of the busiest and most crowded cities in the world. Walks through the Ramble often place you in spots where you only see a handful of other people if any at all which is nice if you need a break from the the urban jungle which surrounds you.
In the end, this is one of many interesting areas of Central Park. You can conveniently include a pass through The Ramble before or after visiting the attractions mentioned above at 79th Street or if walking north of the The Lake past the Loeb Boathouse.

Nice for a stroll and to escape the crowds. Visited on Christmas and found it beautiful but really can't wait to go again on spring or summer.

The Ramble is a bit wilder and less kept area of Central Park. It’s a wonderful piece of nature and the life on the water and in the brambles is amazing.

The Ramble of n Central Park has a lot of small walking trails. You can get in there and not see anyone even on busy days. Yet you are not far from other parts of the park.

While wandering around Central Park, we headed towards the ramble, a rather large forest area with benches, a stream, much green and nice views on the Lake.
I am Swiss so woods are not difficult for me to come by, but I suppose if you are a new Yorker this is a great area where you can enjoy fresher air, have a picnic or simply have a stroll.
