Definitely not to be missed if you are into cosy music venues. No cover charge but please tip the bands. They're well worth your money.

Just kinda of stumbled in and it was the best evening of our stay in NYC! Arthur's gives "dive bars" a good name! On a chilly cold November evening, Arthur's was warm and welcoming and I only wish we could have stayed longer. Barbara was the new bartender (only 2 weeks on the job), and seemed a little nervous but... More

Nothing beats The Grove Street Stompers on a Monday night at Arthur's. Whilst gentrification may be sweeping away a lot of the old in Manhattan, Arthur's remains untouched. The place is small, so you may find yourself rubbing shoulders with the next table, but that's fine - you are all there because you love jazz, you already have something in... More

Had an absolute blast here. Can late (10ish) just as a show started. These guys were absolutely great. We sat at the bar in the back, where the band was playing. Had 2 hours of solid Jazz and great fun. Recommended.

We came on Thursday to Listen To Georgia Brown. We were told on the phone that she will preform. We came early, to get good sits. we enjoyed the group that played, but to our dismay Ms. Brown did not appear and instead a loud rock group came on stage. Maybe they are good, but it is a small place... More

Hi Shira, we're sorry that you were not able to see Sweet Georgia Brown. Ms. Brown broke her ankle on the night you visited Arthur's Tavern and notified us with very late notice that she unfortunately could not perform. She is now able to perform again and welcomes you back to Arthur's! More

Had a great night at Arthur's. We were told on entrance that there is no cover but there is a two-drink per person minimum. That wasn't a problem - we enjoyed the vibe so much that we stayed for more than two drinks. We were seated at a counter next to the live band and stayed for two of the... More

Avoid this place if you're not willing to leave at least 30 bucks per person. Two drink should be consumed, 14 dollars each... Tourist bait

Thanks for visiting Arthur's, where we've been offering free, quality live music for the past 79 years. Unlike other New York City venues which offer live music every night, Arthur's does not require a cover charge at the door to enter, and our drink prices are on average with similar clubs. There is a two drink minimum per person per... More

Located in the West Village just of 7th at 57 Grove St. Arthur's has been the spot in NYC for Jazz, Rhythm n Blues, and strait up great times since 1937. Last night I caught Eri Yamamato' jazz trio at the 7pm show and "off the hook" at 10pm. There is no cover, which is great, so just buy your... More

Went on a Saturday night. The band and atmosphere was amazing, had a great time, till the bill arrived - drinks were very expensive.

Thanks for visiting Arthur's! Unlike other New York City music venues, Arthur's does not request a cover charge at the door for quality, live music seven night a week. Our drink prices are on average with other similar clubs, who do also charge a cover. Thanks - Reuben, Owner More

I am a big fan of NYC and I went to Arthur's Tavern on my last night in New York. I loved it! EJ Sharpe & Band were fantastic and Sweet Georgia Brown was fabulous. I even bought the CD. Was lucky enough to be sitting right at the front around the stage and had a ball. I have recommended... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
