The approach on the Queen Mary 2 at sunrise was spectacular...words fail me...I have seen this skyline in so many photographs but they come no where near the breath-taking reality of the real thing. I was strangely moved by the sight probably because of the 9/11 tragedy though I wasn't conscious of this at the time. New York, New York....it's... More

Lower Manhattan has so much to offer. Shopping, site seeing, relaxing in the park. The 9/11 Memorial is here and a must see as is the Museum.

We liked this part of the City. Not as crowded but lots to see and do. Take the walk along the river, it was so peaceful, clean and beautiful.

Everyone wants to do mid-town and central park in NYC but downtown has its charms. Of course there is the 9/11 memorial which is a must for any patriotic American, but also Battery Park, Wall Street and other notable locations.

This is the quieter end of Manhattan Island and also the location of a lot of tourist destinations: 9/11 site; Wall Street Stock Exchange; one of the Trump Towers; the Charging Bull; start and end of many of the open top Bus Tours; location of lots of discount shopping outlets - C21; H&M for starters. Accommodation is easier here, if... More

Even if you are not going up the World Trade Center observatory, or going to the Statue of Liberty, it is still a fascinating part of Manhattan to visit. Several subway lines go to it, so easy access.

From the money of Wall Street to the solemn site of the World Trade Center to the greenery in Battery Park and with views of the Statue of Liberty, a trip to New York wouldn't be complete without visiting Lower Manhattan.

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
