A smaller version of Bryce Canyon, this 2,500-foot deep basin filled with strange limestone formations in a vivid array of colors and hues offers breathtaking views on a five-mile drive along the rim. This naturally formed amphitheater has guided walks in the summer and a few designated hiking trails.

This is a worthwhile stop before going to Zion or Bryce. It is near Cedar City home of the Utah Shakespeare festival. The views are spectacular and it is much less crowded than Zion and Bryce.

We only stopped here because we had some extra time in Cedar City. It was worth the trip. The small park offered some amazing views similar to Brice Canyon.

This national monument is incredible! It is like a mini Bryce without the crowds! We hiked out to Spectra Point and had some spectacular views. We also hiked to Alpine Pond which was so serene and beautiful. The fall colors were amazing too!

Hwy 143 and 148 are very, very pretty drives in late September. We were there Sept 19, aspen color was peaking in the higher elevations. Compact park, easy to take in, in 2 hours.

If visiting Zion and Bryce Canyon be sure to take a side trip and see this great scenic wonder. It will be well worth the effort. Please buy a T shirt and support this attraction.

It is only a very short and flat walk from the visitors center to the main overlook at Cedar Breaks. Since there is still snowpack, you may have to enter from the Brian Head ski resort side.
