We had a half day at Yorktown. We saw the film and sat in on the artillery talk. It was short but informative. The kids got junior ranger packets. We did the red driving tour of the battlefield. The short stops provided a personal perspective on the people's lives.

Visitor Center and grounds was under construction. They had a film and museum that were informative. The driving tour was well marked. A trolley was available to take you on the loop through Yorktown and back. It stopped at several locations. A great way to get around.

We learned a lot through this driving trail through the Yorktown Battlefield! Many of the history textbooks gloss over this battle as if it was simply a naval battle and not a well-executed siege. Definitely get the CD for your drive! If the Moore House is open, definitely visit - it is wonderfully restored!

I recommend you visit the museum and take the walking tour with the Park Ranger. The tour is a must. It’s very informative and gives you a great overview of the last battle at Yorktown. We then bought the DVD for five dollars at the gift store for the driving tour. It is informative and easy to follow. There are... More

Nice family time. Small but nice beach. You have the historical areas. A few restaurants but all are very good. I really like the Pub. Has great burgers.

They need to do more to the sites everywhere we pulled up was a field. And yes, you can use your imagination but a few photos, drawings, recreated weapons maybe to help you picture what each field looked like during the battle. Bought the CD but it was off with our driving. It felt like we were just driving around... More

My husband and I were part of a tour that went to Jamestown and Yorktown. We saw the battlefield that ended the war of independence. The monument with lady liberty at the top is so impressive. We experienced a surge of extreme pride in our country, Such an awesome experience!!

This is a great place full of great history. There really is so much to see and experience. There are plenty of different canons around the place. We also saw a mortar from 1681 with a plaque that stated it was still serviceable until 1781. We saw the living quarters inside the ships back then which was quite interesting. We... More

The Museum has very interesting artifacts and recreation of a ship, but the highlight was the waking tour with Park Ranger Linda. She made history come alive and included information that isn't usually found in history books.

Deeply moving, if you get the right park ranger. Linda, our ranger, made it real, relevant, personal and real time, she was fantastic. We did the battlefield guided tour at the center and then bought the CD for the driving tour. When she finished it made you proud to know our ancestors fought so hard for our freedom.
