This was an unexpected opportunity. We took the gondola up to the top of Mammoth Mountain for 360° views. The wind was strong and it only 32° so it was a bit chilly, but so worth it. We stopped on our way up at the...More

Parking is scattered on the way up the mountain which leads to less congestion in the lots. Building in progress across from the main lodge for an activity center and shop, it appears.

This is a four-seasons recreational area. This demographic, while it is set up for tourism, does not feel overly touristy. The nearby town has the basic amenities. Once you head to the lakes and the mountains, you feel like you’re away from it all. Some...More

Tons of snow, awesome runs for all levels and plenty of tree skiing/boarding. This is a massive mountain which you won't get bored of that's for sure. We boarded for 3 full days and think we didn't even get close to covering all the terrain....More

Visited this mountain on the way to Death Valley. Gondolas were closed and only admired the mountain from the bottom. Still, it was a spectacular sight with the snow.

Yes. There is plenty to do. Hike to Devils Postpile and Rainbow Falls. I think the PCT and JMT are nearby. See Mono Lake and visit Bodie (ghost town). Visit eastern Yosemite and hike Lambert and Pothole Domes. Enjoy!

There is a hostel (I’ve never stayed there). holidayhausmotelandhostel The Mammoth bus/shuttle system is quite good, & you’re never far from one of the lifts. The slopes are interconnected at Mammoth.
