This was a total disappointment. I was looking forward to getting an in-depth account of the African American heritage of the USA. Instead I got a single audio-visual presentation and some talking accounts and that was it. 30 minutes for my entry fee and I...More

One the first floor they have an interesting and detailed time line of important people and events from slavery to the civil rights movement. The second floor is the best part of the museum with a number of huge screens and brief films of actors...More

The museum is wonderful, in a busy diverse neighborhood out of the downtown. Had a costumed storyteller and beautiful technology. We were very pleased

We were so glad we had time to visit The African American Museum of Philadelphia. They have some different and distinct pieces and exhibits that I have never seen anywhere else. Many of the exhibits are very interactive.

A great place to take a class or a group of children. The museum has 4 levels ad is accessible to a wheelchair (I believe) It covers the entire African American experience.

As other reviewers have written, this museum really lacked the scope and depth to give visitors the history about how African Americans helped build this country, and their contributions to the United States. I learned more about black history from the Revolutionary War museum, and...More
