The market is great for a walk. You can check alot of nice places. We stumbled upon a great vinegar and oil place and that was the highlight of the market. I recommend checking with the visitor center. They do have a lovely lady who can tell you all about the place, history, and gossip... and she has a wonderful... More

This was a fun experience on a Saturday. You walk down the street and all that you smell is the aroma of cheese. The meats at the market are so fresh and affordable. The produce, practically everything is a dollar. And so fresh.

This is true authentic Italian market that is the essence of Philadelphia. Worthwhile for picking up everything from sauces to pasta to oil to fresh sausage. Oh, and the guys behind the counter make it all worthwhile.

Happened to be nearby for something else and decided to check this out. I will definitely return. Fresh produce at wonderful prices. Meat and cheese stores must be explored. Kitchen Store has huge inventory of just about anything you might want. Would love to try one of the restaurants in the area.

When I'm on a budget and have to buy food for the week, I'll go to the Italian Market. The price for the fresh produce is definitely nothing you can compare if you shop at ShopRite or Giant. Recently I went there in the weekend, I couldn't believe with my own eyes that a full case of mangoes was only... More

We toured the area with Free Tours by Foot. Several of the food shops were so run down, that I questioned the food safety practices. I really liked the fresh produce prices and purchased fresh fruits and vegetables which I tried to use the next day. I had to throw away about half of everything I purchased. Just one day... More

The shops and atmosphere are eclectic and vibrant. There are specialty shops that are worth visiting like Di Bruno Bros Cheese, but the entire 9th St strip that starts out Italian at the South St end and morphs into Mexican at the other end is worth visiting. The bonus is the street art and the nearby Magic Garden featuring Isaiah... More

folks have said there is not much going on during the week in the Italian market place. they are right about that. there is a mix of Asian and Mexican shops and restaurants as well. very disappointing after folks have recommended this...some posting in Dipasquale's in Baltimore to try the Philly Italian market and we did, but prefer to spend...
