Unfortunately, there aren't enough shelters or people choose not to stay in them, so there are homeless men, mostly, seemingly living here. I had to take a train early Sunday morning and had nowhere to sit because all the benches were taken by homeless people, either sitting or lying down on the benches. There are hygiene issues. Two men who... More

The suburban station is now becoming the shelter for homeless and therefore making the place smells stinky, unsafe, and dirty. The benches are all occupied by the homeless, and I do not even want to sit down because it so dirty.

Suburban Station is filthy and loaded with homeless people - I saw an individual take drugs. Heaven forbid you need to use the bathroom...yuck. As SEPTA is the world's least reliable means of transportation, you can be rest assured you'll be spending some time waiting for your train (which will undoubtedly be late). The location is good in terms of... More

Especially this time of year, a visit to the station can be heartbreaking. There is a large armed police presence, whose primary purpose is to chase away homeless people, whose numbers are legion. As to the fast food joints, they are all overpriced because of the onerous rents that Septa imposes. Unless you are a commuter and obliged to pass... More

A very convenient suburban train station where you can also have your breakfast lunch and light dinner on your way to work or home or on your lunch break.

We visited Philadelphia and as part of our "adventure" decided to only use public transportation... enters SEPTA. Airport line ran close to our hotel... Suburban Station was our stop. Here's the thing, you pay after you get on the train. Yes, AFTER you're on the train like a scene from a 1930's movie. CASH ONLY! Anywho, the commuters on the... More

Though it is a bit tired Suburban station is definitely worth a visit. It has retained much of its art deco looks and a bit of its feel and is spotlessly clean. There is a variety of eating places. We ate in on which was just inside the door and had tables with covers. A nice touch even if they... More

Suburban Station is absolutely massive, sprawling several blocks under Center City. It is kind of beaten up around the edges, but it still maintains a lot of its classic Art Deco charm. All 12 regional rail lines connect here, so train enthusiasts must come here. Personally, this place has a lot of sentimental value, mostly nostalgia based.
