The Wilma Theater provides the best avant guarde drama in Philadelphia. The theater is constructed so that the audience is close to the stage in almost every seat. But that also presents a problem since getting to your seats is sometimes difficult; you must slide past a whole row of people to get to your seats. On the other hand,... More

We are regulars at the Wilma Theater and find their art and productions are world class and comparable to top shows in London and NYC.

It is our third year of subscription and we cannot say we were ever disappointed with any of their creations. The theater is in the heart of Philly's arts district. The parking is easy. You can present your ticket in the place next door and receive significant discount. There is a friendly bar in the lobby. Blanka Zizka is an artistic... More

Great theatre that doesn't kill your wallet. Tickets $25 and $10 (students with ID). Comfortable, easy to book, easy to get to. Production we saw not my taste, but companion liked it. Would look for other venues here in a heartbeat.

The Wilma Theater produces several plays a season, mostly new plays by current playwrights, but sometimes a surprise, such as a Greek classic surprisingly staged or a Shakespeare play newly conceived. In virtually all their productions they deal with the tough questions of life -- not always easy to experience but well worth the trip. Their tickets are reasonable (currently... More

While staying at the Doubletree hotel next door, I decided to see a show on the spur of the moment. The Wilma theater was open with a new show so I decided to check out the venue. The show itself was $25 and the seats were big enough to hold most people. The theater was a little small which gave... More

The Wilma is an intimate theater, unusual for its placement of the audience on both sides of the stage. This allows for more seats with a close view of the action. I really don't think there is a bad seat in the house. A recent production we saw there was brilliantly staged, with the actors addressing both sides of the... More

This was my third play at the Wilma Theater. It's a very nice play house with quite unique plays. Ticket service was very quick and it has a cute lobby area with some seating and they sell snacks. I have enjoyed each play that I have seen here, especial the last one (The Hard Problem). The actors were excellent, and... More

Wilma is one of several outstanding live theaters in Philadelphia that present intellectually stimulating fare. Living at the midpoint between Philly and NYC we much prefer to visit Philly for the theater - it is much less expensive than NYC. We had been subscribers to the Arden Theater (also in Philadelphia) for more than ten years and a few years... More

I recently saw "Antigone" here -- outstanding, innovative performance. The ticket price was well worth the performance. While I expected a good performance I was really amazed at how it exceeded my expectations.
