I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised hiking up and around the trails. If you move at a good clip, you should be able to cover the entire area in about 3 hours or so. Very relaxing, calm, and would return!

The Visitor Center here has a good exhibit and film that describes the Woodland Native Americans that built these mounds, and how the mounds were an integral part of their life and culture. I found it interesting that archeologists still don't have a good understanding...More

On a fall color tour - frankly we stopped in passing to use restrooms at visitor center which were closed temporarily but port potty was provided. Setting is beautiful and we walked the short distance to the closest mounds. Hard to envision the shape from...More

We didn't know much about the Effigy Mounds before we came here, but learned so much from the interesting visitor centre and the helpful park staff. They answered all our questions and explained about the mounds. We then walked through the woods to see the...More

There is a short movie available to watch and there are the Rangers who are available for guided walks. There are numerous instructional paths to follow, with elevation, so bring good walking shoes
