The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

I had the opportunity to take several friends from the west cost to this magnificent national landmark. Not only were they in awe by the deep history but by the story that it tells. The self driving tour gives you plenty of time to take in this period in history and you can feel the soul of the battlefield. Great... More

This was the highlight of our trip. So much history and so many things to look at. You definitely need a good two days in Gettysburg. We spent one and as we go on here to see what to review, we obviously didn't do everything Gettysburg had to offer. Such a wonderful place!

Gettysburg is a wonderful place to visit. It has an excellent visitor center and the battlefield is easily drivable. It is a great place to contemplate freedom and it's heavy price. The one thing you should be aware of is that there are monuments literally every few feet on the battlefield, you simply can't stop to look at all of... More

We hired a private tour guide for 10 of us. The gentleman was extremely knowledgeable and was so kind to our young boys.

It's so easy to imagine the battle through the informative signs and online information. We drove ourselves (no tour guide) and felt highly informed. Prepare on spending a few hours here.

We visited the site and walked most of the area to the north and west of the visitor center. You get a feel of the land and how the battle was fought with the NPS informative displays and pamphalet. See the Soldier's Monument where Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address.

You can do a self-guided tour but we chose to do a guided coach tour to ensure that we appreciated the battlefield to the full. Probably if you know a lot of the history etc already then you don’t need to but we didn’t. The coach made several stops so that you get out and look over the terrain etc... More

Gettysburg, what do you think when you hear that word? Let me try to put this in 1503 characters are less. It means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. In a nutshell, it's the battle that decided the ultimate outcome of our country's Grand Civil war. It's a place I always wanted to visit but... More
