The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

My husband has read a lot about the Civil War, but seeing the battlefield and the facilities as well as hearing the interpretations was revealing. We didn't bring our kids and I really wish we had. It is such an important part of our history and relevant today given our polarity. Really stunning seeing where Chamberlain held Little Round Top... More

This is a very well maintained park. To see the number of graves of unknown who fought and died for our country is very moving. Each state has a marker and lists the number of unknown from that state. There are grave markers for each one buried there. It is a very peaceful area and there are park rangers who... More

Took my daughter here for a road trip as she is studying the civil war. Watched the movie and took a tour of the museum. Did the self guided tour of the battlefields. Reenactors were there at a couple of the sites. They did a great job. The self guided tour is free, Museum and movie are not. If you... More

Historic well maintained site. Can't help but learn something new! The size and amount so see is overwhelming needs several trips or at least a week to see everything. Don't really recommend it for smaller children, cannons are cool, but after that they start to get bored. Highly recommend it!

On one hand the scenery is just peaceful, serene and beautiful! But it is also sobering to realize how much carnage, destruction and death occurred on these peaceful grounds.

There is so much history at Gettysburg and visit there at least twice a year. We learn something different every time we visit.

This is easily the best maintained battlefield I've visited while travelling through Maryland and Pennsylvania. Don't underestimate the size of Gettysburg and attempt to visit in the last half of the day. Wake up early, prepared to drive your way through the countryside to follow the pace of the battle. Although my tour was self-guided, I would occasionally drop in... More

Drove around the battlefield, unbelievable so may deaths and history in this place. Just can't see it all and take it in. Spent a lot of time reading and finding out these that aren't taught in school. Would go again

We love riding through the battlefield and are enamored of the wildlife there, as well as the historical signifance of this hallowed place and it's monuments to those who fought here.
