Historic site features the home and estate of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Springwood, and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, the only Presidential Library used by a sitting president. It was conceived and built under President Roosevelt's direction and opened to the public in 1941.The Library's mission is to foster research and education on the life and times of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, and their continuing impact on contemporary life. Our work is carried out by four major areas: Archives, Museum, Education and Public Programs.

What more can I say, that hasn’t been said already. It’s a moving exhibition with memorabilia, artifacts, and multimedia presentations. You could easily spend three or four hours there between the library and the grounds. Presently, there’s an exhibition of WW II posters

I'm more of a JFK man, but i found myself extremely impressed with everything here--especially since most of the site was designed by FDR himself. The visitor's center was welcoming and we had an excellent park ranger as our tour guide. He answered every question...More

I recently visited the library with my high school students. First, the museum and the home are separate tickets. If you want a home tour, you really need to get those in advance as they go VERY quickly. You will start your tour of the...More

We started the experience with a 20 minute movie and FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt. It was informative with good overview of what both FDR and Eleanor accomplished during their time in the White House. Also a good reminder of the times during his presidency and...More

We didn't even know this place was here until we were a couple of miles away. Pulled in on a whim and were enthralled. First, the driveway and views of the river were enchanting. This is beautiful countryside and the rich people who built mansions...More

Great story about the birth of the Presidential Library. FDR working right out of the Library office during WW2 really added to the uniqueness of the Library. The memorabilia there is great. I also paid the extra price for the home visit. Worth the money....More

The library is a well-presented history of his presidency and somewhat of his life. The physical displays are more compelling than the recitation of acts and accomplishments.

A visit worth the drive from NYC. The first presidential library, it does a good job explaining FDR’s role in history. As well as any. What is special here is the added chance to see his home and understand his personal side. Sort of a...More

The displays are well done and well explained. My only comment is about the one big miss of his administration concerning the Japanese Internment. The display on that was quite small.
