There were some interesting exhibits at the visitor center, but I also suggest visiting the Kingsley Plantation at another location.

With out of town visitors we decided to stop by Kingsley Plantation. Very interesting history of early 1800’s plantation living. Unfortunately, many parts of this property are not assessable due to age and fragility. But worth the trip.

Worthwhile going on the guided tour of kingsley plantation at 11 am or 3pm. Learn about a former slave plantation with 300 slaves who harvested sea cotton. The slave quarters are made out of seashells and lime!

A great place for a quick walk. The place has a 1 mile trail which is mostly covered with trees to keep out the sunshine. Bring water to drink and there is restrooms in the interpreter center.

Drive on small old roads and enjoy what life was like in natural Florida. There are some ruins along the way on parts of the roads.

This place is so much fun! Get a good hike in. Checkin' out the fort on the intracoastal waterway on a beautiful sunshiny day in Florida! Lots of birds and nature all around.

Staff is great and highly engaging of young visitors. They offer the "junior ranger" program. Hikes, climing trees, beautiful ocean views are all available while learning about the Indian culture and practices.

I did not see any particular area where a party could be held under cover. You could contact the Park Ranger about it. It is a historical area with the house and outlier buildings. They have some tours. The main house... More
