About
Dating back to the 18th century, this charming Baltimore district has cobblestone streets and a thriving culture by the waterfront. Wander through its quaint streets as you discover craft and antique shops, coffee houses and art galleries, then treat yourself to fresh seafood or a yummy burger at the Broadway Market. After dark, more than 100 pubs await you. Fell’s Point is a short drive from downtown Baltimore, but you can take a water taxi from the Inner Harbor for a more unique experience. You can also join a food, historic, or haunted pub tour to discover the district's hidden gems. – Tripadvisor

- Whitney DRacine, Wisconsin100 contributionsBeautiful Part of Baltimore! We came to Baltimore to visit all things Poe but spent a lot of time at Fell's Point. This harbor is absolutely breathtaking and offers so many things to do. There are amazing resturants like Penny Black and Thamas Osyter house. There are historical places to visit, they have a ghost tour, tattoo studio, bars, everything! Make sure to take some time to visit!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 October 2023
- Alicia_JA360 contributionsGem of a Neighborhood in BaltimoreThis neighborhood is a gem in an otherwise tough city. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you occupied for a full day. The cobblestone streets are historic and the preserved buildings are beautiful. It was relaxing to walk these streets along the northwest branch of the Paptapsco River. Beware of the infamous "warf rats" that Baltimore is so fond of!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 April 2024

The area was lively with people enjoying the shops, graduates of a local university taking photos, and several groups in Wizard of Oz costumes. Even the dogs that were being walked seemed to sense that this is a special place. I visit Fell's Point in Baltimore Maryland several times a year. I arrive early and eat the "Sweet Baby Jesus" at the Blue Moon Cafe. I then purchase Polish sausage from one of the Polish markets and put them in a cooler in my trunk. Fell's Point was the Polish section of Baltimore. Then I shop along the water or on Broad street. I spend at least an hour browsing for records at The Sound Garden. Then I have lunch at Ekeban restaurant or during the summer I eat a back fin lump crab cake from one of the many restaurants serving Chesapeake Bay crabs. Being from Maryland, I know that Chesapeake Bay blue crabs are only available during May, June, July and August. I sit on a bench by the water and people watch or I take a water taxi to the Harbor and walk up to Fort McHenry. I walk back to Fell's Point and stop in the Italian section for cookies and ice cream at Vaccaros. Then I watch the sunset from someplace close to or on the water and take my time walking back to my car to avoid rush hour traffic.

I would highly recommend staying at a hotel in this charming area. It had lots of character with a variety of restaurants within walking distance. There were also a few breakfast shops, bars, dessert shops and a few retail shops. The main streets were well lit at night and we were comfortable walking around the area. There were lots of quant old buildings but most looked in great shape. We walked past quite a few historical landmark homes. Be sure to look for the "vote against prohibition" etching on the outside brick of the building housing Insomnia Cookies at Shakespeare and S Broadway!

Plenty of benches to sit and watch the Harbor traffic while savoring your gelato or Affogato from a nearby shop. There are unique food venues, shops, and a Baltimore Water Taxi stop. You can purchase tickets there and take the boats to either The Inner Harbor or Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. Check the taxi schedule online before you go if you plan to take one of the Harbor routes.

Such a vibrant area. We hit at fall festival time so we had brews and liquor with live entertainment in a the park area. Such a fun time. Also an outdoor flea market near the food market. All stores, bars, restaurants were open and accommodating. "Horse you came in on" Saloon was very cool with merch for sale and more live entertainment. Very reasonable prices. Lunch at 'Twist Fells Point" was absolutely delicious. Shrimp and crab entrees along with a side of polenta were our choice. Breakfast at Blue Moon was so quirky with fun staff. Definitely shop, dine and stay in Fells Point if you have a chance

Fell's Point is a historic waterfront neighborhood in southeastern Baltimore, Maryland. It was established around 1763 and is a pleasant and attractive place, walking the cobbled streets and taking refreshments at one of the many cafe's or bars in the area. I can recommend a visit to Pitango Pastry for coffee and cake! See my separate review.

We stopped by on a cold December day around lunchtime and not much was going on. The shops looked cute though, but few were open. There were plenty of places to eat but none were busy and the vibe was weak. Maybe at dinner time or on a warm day the neighborhood would be more lively. Some of the streets and houses were nice to look at though.

Nice atmosphere! Lots of good restaurants and bars. It is a great walking area with many shops and beautiful people. Love Fells Pointe and Baltimore. We walked about 4 - 5 miles of leisure walks.

Laid back neighborhood with a Greenwich Village feel. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Away from the hustle and bustle of the inner harbor, Fells Point has its own charming waterfront lined with a eateries and an upscale hotel. Highly recommend visiting this neighborhood if even for a few hours.

How long does a water taxi ride from the inner harbor to Fell's Point?

What is the best way to day trip from Bloomingdale, Washington to Fells Point?
Written 19 April 2017
I don't know why you would want to do only one day if you travel from Bloomingdale WA or Plano, TX. There is so much to do here you could easily spend several days in the area and to spend the money traveling does not make sense. Perhaps you have a long layover at BWI Airport so if that is the case, you can take the light rail to the Convention Center stop and go right from there. There are free color coded buses that could get you there or near there. I would check on the internet about the public transit in Baltimore and you will find a route map for Fells Point.

How far is it from Fell's Point (say, from the Cat's Eye, or Slainte on Thames Street) over to Canton? Is it within walking distance?
Written 5 April 2017
I'd agree, just about a mile to Canton Square. You can walk the promenade (it gets a bit tricky to follow at one point), but it goes right along the waterline for the most part. Very safe in the day, maybe not as much at night.

I'm considering visiting Fells Point/Inner Harbor with my sister for a kid free weekend and doing one of the Ghost Tours. We are in our 30s. Any advice about the pub tour v. the regular tour? Thank you!
Written 7 July 2015
Agreed, the pub tour would be the way to go if you are "kid free". And Fell's Point is a fairly compact area and very "walkable" so that you can visit things you may have missed on the tour. A helpful hint would be to stop at the Fell's Point Visitors Center as they can provide you with a wealth of knowledge about the area and also have some interesting historic displays.

Can you walk from Inner Harbor to Fell's Point or is a water taxi required?
Written 9 January 2015
Depending on where you are walking from, it is not a long walk. We stayed at the Four Seasons in Harbor East and could have walked to Fells Point in 15 minutes. However, we wanted to go to Fort McHenry first so we took the Water Taxi.
