Also called Baltimore Basilica. Managed to get there in time to catch the 5pm mass service. Magnificent altar and architecture. Make sure to visit the crypts below. Check out the Blessed Sacrament and say a little prayer.

Was in town on business and decided to go take a look at the Basilica. They have guided tours daily, but I did the "self tour" which is just walking around and reading the plaques on the wall. My self guided tour was plenty sufficient. There were two other tours going on, and by the looks of it, they were... More

We went to Baltimore specifically to visit this basilica, the first Catholic Cathedral in the U.S. It was well worth the visit. We had called ahead and had scheduled a tour. The tour included the history of Catholicism in Maryland as well as a history of the basilica. The tour included information on the different paintings, statues, the altars, etc.,... More

This cathedral is so beautiful. We were able to attend the Sunday 4:30 PM Mass and it was very impressive. The archbishop was very likable and down-to-earth. The choir didn't seem to large at all, but they just filled the entire place with the most beautiful music. Even if you aren't Catholic, it was a beautiful sight to see.

This was just a quick stop for us because we got here a few minutes before they closed. This place looks gorgeous on the inside and the outside. We sat in the pews for a few minutes and got to admire the artwork on the ceiling of this great basilica. You can't help to get drawn in and get lost... More

This Neoclassical cathedral was the first Catholic cathedral in America to support the fledgling catholic community. The free tour offers lots of interesting information about the history of the church and of Baltimore.

Very elegant simple beauty. The Arch Bishop and especially the congregation very warm and open. Earliest in America.

Other than not being able to locate a person to take us on the tour we were able to go down into the bottom of the church as well as walk around the building and study the art and architecture

My wife and I went to 5:30 Saturday Mass. The celebrant was Bishop Lori. There were only about 50 people in attendance but the experience was excellent. Went to the gift shop first since it closed at 6

It is just so beautiful inside and out. It has been recently fastidiously renovated and looks so pristine and unspoiled. A remarkable example of Jeffersonian inspired architecture ...at its best. Just simply.....wow!
