Recommend going at night for dinner and a walk along the water, less crowded and lights from the boats make it a beautiful experience.also suggest taking one of the elevators down to the river level as the steps they have to go down are very steep and old, and the roads are extremely uneven!they have a lot of nice statues/memorials there... Night and day offer two completely different perspectives on this area. It is a lovely historic area that has a smattering of tourist trap shops but also offers a wide variety of dining and shops. The steps are steep so do not attempt them if unsure and seek an elevator! Have fun!

This is a must walk area. Issue for people with high heels - or senior citizens is that this is not the easiest to get to and from from transitional walk ways. The cobble stone walkway is difficult and any person without confortable shoes will struggle. There is a staircase up - which is only for the strong and strong... More

River street in the low season is just plain boring. All the bars are empty, even at happy hour time, there is no atmosphere except for the beggers who hassle people, no sun as the buildings are very tall and keep everything in the shade. It looks like a tourist trap, nothing more. The only fun thing we did there... More

Loved the feel of River Street with the historic cobblestone streets. Lots of restaurants and sweet eateries in this area too.

If you are looking to get your tourist trap fix in Savannah and love old buildings this place is it. From the super sketchy stair cases to the coblestone street this place is just plain cool to see.

You must visit River Street when in Savannah! It is very interesting. They have many bars and restaurants there. Many views of the river. Many walking paths of cobble stone and pavement. We rode city bikes through some of it. Some of our favorite restaurants were on this Street. There are shops to look through. Coffee to drink! Something for... More

We always tend to gravitate back to the River Walk while visiting Savannah's historic district. Yes, it caters mostly to tourists - I like that. With all of the candy, prailine, and pecan shops, restaurants, and bars along the River Walk, it is a great couple hours to spend after walking through the gorgeous neighborhoods across the Bay Ave. If...
