The museum is right behind the Savannah History Museum and memorial park. I was led to believe you could actually get on some on the trains but found out after the fact that you have to take the guided tour to do that. Also, the children's museum wasn't open but we were still charged the full price. This is a... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your visit! Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children's Museum are separate facilities with different hours of operation and separate admission prices. Admission prices of $10 for adults and $6 for children are for admission and guided tours at Georgia State Railroad Museum only. We are so sorry... More

The railroad museum and the children museum are in the same area. The pass is the best deal. Us adults probably appreciated the railroad museum more after all of the Thomas the tank engine episodes we saw with the steam engines at the Roundhouse. At the museum, the steam engine goes on a turntable and although the trip on the... More

Enjoyed the self tour. We added it in to our last day. Many opportunities for guided tours. The initial video gives you an overall history to set the stage. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful.

I agree with other reviewers here in that I wish they would let you climb around a little bit more on the engines and look in some of the cars without waiting on a tour guide. It is still a pretty interesting museum, though, with the engine roundhouse and turntable. During part of the VERY short train ride you can... More

Was in Savannah for my birthday with my girlfriend and this is one of the few things that I absolutely wanted to see. As a lover of trains and a history teacher this was one of the things I was the most excited about but I couldn't have been more wrong. According to Georgia traveler on GPB, you can climb... More

My husband and I took our 3 year old son to see the trains and he absolutely loved every minute here. I don't think he even realized that it was over 100 degrees as we were visiting the museum (Mostly outside). lol We were all impress with the trains and the staff. They all made our experience great and we... More

I wish the people that run this attraction well but it was not worth the price of admission. You cannot get on any of the rolling stock or engines unless there is a guided tour. This is very much a work in progress and they have a long way to go. They do not have a significant quantity of engines... More

This was ok. We were in and out of there in probably about an hour or so. It was hot walking around looking at the trains and we were only able to view 1. The rest had to be with a tour guide, that was only a few times a day. We did enjoy looking at the old steam engines... More
