We visited FBNM on 9/5/17. The visitor center has a great display of fossils and casts and the ranger program is very good. There is no fee to enter the monument, plenty of parking and a couple of hikes. We did the nature trail, which...More

My wife and I were driving from Jackson to SLC to get to the airport and saw the sign for this stop and thought we'd try it, if for no other reason than to break up the trip. What a find! Very nicely laid out...More

It is truly amazing the wealth of fossils in the Kemmerer area. The buttes and draws are spectacular. The variety of fossil fish, reptiles, plants and other species show what life was like when the lake existed. A very educational trip and a great trip...More

I recommend visiting this site if you're interested at all in the local geology/paleontology. Then after you've visited, go to one of the pay digs so you can actually find fossils for yourself. Very informative if you interested in the Eocene Green River Formation.

This site is off the beaten track, but, in our opinion, is worth the detour. We have visited the Dinosaur site, and this is just as interesting. The visitor center has quite a few fossils that have been extracted from the surrounding area - everything...More

Whether passing through or a pre-requisite before digging in a quarry, this is a have-to-see. In June, the wildflowers at the top of the hill are magnificent. The monument gives you ancient history as well as a modern history of the area. If you have...More
