I recently toured the Vistors center at the Sunken Road Museam area. It was so interesting. Lots of Civil War artifacts. Also the film of the battle is so well done and than you walk out side tothe actual battlefield. It makes you feel so...More

Very kid friendly with lots of information and exhibits! A good start to the civil war sites in the area. A must see in Fredericksburg!

A lot of history in the battlefield, you can take a self guided tour and sometimes a park Ranger will give tours. Some very good places to eat lunch or dinner, several beer gardens in town.

Each time we visit, I learn comething new about the Civil War. Fascinating exhibits about tragic battles and some kindnesses shown even during a war.

The way the part of the battle that was in town is set up allows you to literally walk the steps of those who fought for what they believed. I was awestruck to get the sense of how close each side was to the other...More

This is worth the stop as the visitor centre provides a good overview of the two battles and their significance. I also found the desk staff to be extremely helpful. You can obtain a free driving tour guide map at the centre.

Great trip for civil war history! Not a huge battlefield but historically significant none the less. Little bit of hiking but not overwhelming. Highly recommended!

JMJ I highly doubt that you can horseback on the historical field itself but maybe there are stables nearby. I don't remember seeing any but the area was very lush and hilly; there could have been.
