This is a beautiful route north out of Fairbanks. I went with a guide which made me able to see the gold mines, pipelines, and Hilltop Restaurant as we traveled North. It is beautiful. The road was well-maintained, but you will likely want someone with CB capability to communicate with the truckers who are traveling to and from Deadhorse. It... More

My wife and I flew over sections of the Elliott Highway during our escorted ‘Natural Wonders of Alaska’ tour with Titan Travel. We were based for 3 nights on a room only basis at the comfortable and friendly Bridgewater Hotel, Fairbanks, located on the banks of the Chena River. We'd booked an optional evening excursion to fly over the Arctic... More

In early January, with a fair amount of recently fallen snow, I'm please to report that the roads are very well maintained.

This being my first visit to Alaska (and being in December) I was most pleased to see what a fine highway this was and how clear it was given the snow and cold.

So after reading some reviews. Remember this road now can be used by the motoring public, but is also a supply line to the north slope and village communities. Choose the correct transportation to navigate this hwy. Road curtesy is a must. Slow, stop and glass if you want to see any wildlife. Don't be in to big of a... More

Based on 9/16 trip, the Elliot is horrible. the paved part from Fairbanks is not too bad, but the turnoff junction toward Manley is indescribable.there are 13 miles under construction (destruction), in which you have to follow a pilot car. You may have to wait a while for it. But there are places you can only do 15 mph. I... More

Great views and great Aurora viewing from the little side roads and turnouts. We also saw several moose along the road when we were here in February.

I think this is one of the main roads in Fairbanks which also leads to the Dalton Highway. The scenery is outstanding just like most of Alaska is.

Traveled this road a lot and while it was clear and paved there were stretches where the road was very wavy and difficult to drive. But it got you where you wanted to go.
