With hours to kill before our flight home, what better way to spend a sunny Fairbanks day than a round of golf. We thought it neat to play on the continent's northern most course. The course is very well cared for considering it is build...More

This is not your normal round of golf. We had lots of fun, but the course was very wet because of Permafrost and heavy rains over the summer. If you want to play a serious round of golf this might not be the place to...More

We decided to do the visitor special because we wanted to be golfing at midnight. Unfortunately, the course is not open that late, but we did play almost until 11:00pm, which would be unheard of back home. The course is certainly unique. As other reviewers...More

The course was built in the 1990's in a cleared out forest area with much area being built on the permafrost which causes man undulations and sunken spots on the course surfaces. Greens were kind of rough, but that made the experience more challenging. Received...More

Don't expect to play at your best but expect to have fun! An Alaskan tundra green is definitely a challenge! You will probably need to allow more time to finish playing.

Really pretty. Difficult cuz I'm not good at golf. The grass is crazy. Went after a rain, the whole course was a water hazard. Still fun, I'll be going again in the sun though

This is NOT a country club, so do not expect manicured fairways but the course will challenge your game the way few other courses can. Permafrost damage from brutal winters creates an uneven course with difficult greens. There are a few bare patches where the...More

This course has a lot of permafrost damage. They had a skids get working the fairways while we were there. Not to mention its full of mosquitoes Might be better off playing the 9 hole Fairbanks course or Wainwright

The staff was friendly and they have a nice tourist package that includes a hat, ball with logo, certificate stating you've played there, etc. Course was in DECENT shape considering the amount of rain. Be prepared for plenty of mosquitos. Recommend playing with brightly colored...More

I've played this course a few times while on vacation and love it! It is more like the rough courses you would find in Scotland, not the manicured, country club style found in the lower 48. Permafrost makes for some interesting plays. Staff was friendly...More

Hi Janice, I live in Fairbanks and play all three golf courses here. North Star is the furthest from downtown so you need to either rent a car, hire a taxi or see if the hotel can arrange a shuttle. That said, North Star is... More
