People say coney island is great... I think its very overcrowded. I only visit Brighton Beach when I want to jump on the subway and visit the beach. Its a long beach with less people than 10 blocks over at Coney Island. Its worth going here over coney island.

This is right, I live here near the beach itself but got a long walk on the avenue recently. All around decorated for Christmas, there are a lot of fresh tree sellers and fiesta atmosphere. I like to do a shopping here for very specific Russian food and recommend salad bars "Europa" and "Best Buy". You may try the take... More

Despite being a long subway ride from Manhattan, Brighton Beach is completely worth the trip if you're looking for something really different. It truly is like being in Russia! Great food and interesting shopping. We went at night during the winter, so we didn't really get to see the beach. Big it was the atmosphere we went for, and we... More

A November weekend day. Lots of locals enjoying the sunshine. None of the gaudy rides that colour Coney Island. Still the wonderful beach. And just off it, great shops that make you feel as if you could be in Moscow.

Took the subway to Brighton Beach on one of September's hottest Saturdays. Busy beach area but still room to enjoy the warm breeze and look at the sky. Best part is you can easily walk the boardwalk and experience some of the best Russian restaurants on Brooklyn. Outdoor seating, delicious food to enjoy a day at the beach. Can't wait... More

A walk from the 8th st station but way less crowded. Nice place to run or eat on boardwalk or spend a day on the sand/water

Packed with shops and restaurants labeled in Cyrillic and Russian spoken all around us, we felt we were in another country. The overhead subway running right down the center of Brighton did detract from the ambiance. Fun place to shop. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cafe Volna on the boardwalk in Brighton.

We walked down the boardwalk to Brighton Beach from Coney Island Beach. It would be a good option for a day at the beach, maybe not as busy as Coney Island Beach. Sand is super hot, do not go barefoot - flip flop are a must. Facilities are good.
