A great town, a good lighthouse, and a Great area to visit. This area is one of our favorite places to visit. We love the fall colors, waterfalls, parks and the drive from Duluth to the Canadian border is excellent.

Great place to go for the day, rain or shine. Quaint maritime town, with history dating back to Al Capone, Chicago and Prohibition along the Gun Flint Trail.

Really cool place. We didn’t expect to do a bit of rock climbing to get to the lighthouse, but we did and it was very doable. Surrounded by the coast guard and Grand Marais, it was a beautiful experience.

The view and the setting around the lighthouse is gorgeous. It's a rocky and slightly scary walk all the way to the lighthouse so if you don't like climbing over rocks, you might want to think about this one. One of the paths was very...More

Walked along the breaker a few times. Nice view, however, the walkway is a bit narrow. Still would advise the walk. Just make sure you have good balance.

Walkway without rails to the lighthouse. We had a large dog with us so, decided to skip the walk to the light. Easy to see the light from the parking lot near the Coast Guard Station.

The trail to the lighthouse is just a narrow break wall but you get impressive views of the lake, lighthouse and town. Wear sneskers and I wouldn't recommend this when it is wet or windy.

This little lighthouse sits at the end of an amazing concrete walk. The pathway is surrounded by rustic rock formations...and if you step off the path, you can find the names of the original settlers of Grand Marias, Minnesota carved in the rocks. This tradition...More

Great place. I was a little nervous walking out to the lighthouse but I made it. Just a concrete wall to walk on then rocks. Lots of people visiting here.

We walked out to the lighthouse twice during our recent stay in Grand Marais. It's a short and pretty walk. It can be a bit tricky due to having to walk along the rocks. Also you need to walk along a narrow cement walkway, so...More

Grand Marais lighthouse is a small lighthouse on a breakwater for the harbor. You can walk out on the breakwater for free, with free parking by the Coast Guard building, but you can't get inside the lighthouse. You can... More
