Don't let the brochure discourage you from taking this trail. It is listed as difficult, but if you are in relatively decent shape it is really not all that taxing. There are so many beautiful viewpoints on the way up. The trail is well marked and there is a picnic table and a flag at the top. Peachland will send... More

We snowshoed here and the Devil Track gorge the river runs through, is spectacular. Our second time attempting to get up to Pincushion. We need to start earlier so we have enough light. We hiked here for about 5 hours .

You can really tell that the volunteers that maintain this trail system really care about what they are doing. When we were there it was very cold and there wasn't a bunch of snow but were still able to get in some great skiing. We mainly skied 2 of the 3 easy loops due to the icy conditions of the... More

Spectacular views, highlighted by turning leaves and glassy-calm Lake Superior. Location provides one with a feeling that early fur traders would have experienced in the late 1700s through the 1800s.

The trail system was amazing, with plenty of room for mountain biking and hiking. Wonderfully maintained trails.

My husband and I (in our early 60s) hiked the Pincushion Mountain Trail and climbed Pincushion Mountain. The trail (part of the Superior Hiking trail) was fabulous. The hike up the mountain was challenging but worth the climb. The views of the Fall Colors were spectacular.

I've only been here in the fall but I love this - one of my favorites on the MN north shore. Its a longer one but not too bad - maybe 3-4 hours. And the view on the overlook, bring a picnic and sit and enjoy for awhile. Its worth the climb.

It's been quite a while since I've been here in the summer, it's usually a winter cross-country skiing destination. Bring your bug spray and sun block, and get back on the trails. Don't forget your camera, there's so much beauty here. Evenings on the overlook are amazing, seeing Grand Marais lit up at night is fantastic.

I didn't get a chance to really explore...this was a solo trip to see if I would come back and hike with a partner...and that's a definite yes...great trails everywhere you go...both for bike and walking.

When we first visited the trails of Pincushion, Grand Marais had experienced recent flooding, and as a result the trails were muddy. One of our family members was wearing sandals, and by the time we reached the lookout point, his feet were caked in mud and dirt. Additionally, we had a lot of trouble finding the said lookout point. It... More
