I spent a week in early January 2017, along with 75 or so other artists, working, collaborating, and getting inspired by the history of this special arts institution. It felt a little like traveling back in time--to an era when craftsmanship and quality mattered, among other things. It definitely provided a welcome contrast to the commercialism and bad taste that's... More

This is a very famous place that I visited forty years ago during my craftsman days. They teach every kind of craft imaginable and offer some spectacular classes. We recently saw a showing of resident artists’ work in Knoxville, TN, at the Emporium Gallery. But they don’t apparently encourage walk-in visitors. I remembered it being in a natural setting, but... I just spent a week at a workshop. I was unable to stay at Arrowmont, but had three incredible meals a day there. The workroom facilities are top notch. They were out of their way to serve guest with dietary needs. Incredible hard working staff

I came here for a 4 day pottery workshop with Bruce Brisco. The workshop itself was wonderful and I learned a great deal along with the other people in my group. I stayed at Arrowmont in their Red Barn for 4 nights. My "dorm" room was very comfortable and clean. The adjoining bathrooms were very clean also. The food at... More

Right off the crazy strip in Gatlinburg, this place is a true hidden gem. They have a lovely gallery and shop, but the best thing to do here is stay a week or two and take an amazing in depth class on an arts or crafts field of your choice. They have amazing instructors, and food and lodging is included... More

Neat school. Classes were not in session when we were in Gatlinburg, but we were able to walk through the gallery. Neat pieces of art. Lots of talent!

Stop by and view some homegrown art. Students display and sale wonderful pottery, paintings, and other pieces of fantastic works. I loved the pottery pieces myself, purchase 2 nice original pieces with beautiful glaze colors and textures.

But found the shop to be very lovely & filled with handmade items. Shop was about to close but found a lovely necklace/earring set for a Christmas gift.

The best thing about downtown Gatlinburg, TN is Arrowmont. Go see an exhibit or take a class during the summer or fall months. It is truly an amazing place.

If you love arts and crafts you need to stop in and visit Arrowmont. You can view the current exhibits, watch artisans participating in workshops and classes or take part in one yourself. Arrowmont is a historic part of Gatlinburg and a welcome respite from the noise of the strip.
