I live five minutes from the park and always take out of town guests here. You can meander through the wooded park and encounter plaques and statutes telling of the revolutionary battle. It's great exercise too. There is a road circling the outer area of...More

This is a very nicely maintained and laid out National Military Park. The locals quite obviously find this an attractive place to walk and it is easy to see why. The visitor's center has well done displays and features artifacts found on the battlefield. The...More

Nicely laid out displays in the visitor center and well maintained, informative walking paths. We listened to the online free tour as we walked to each stop. The 30 minute movie was entertaining and the map movie gives you great information about how everyone was...More

We went during a time where there were additional activities (July 34) so I'm not sure what is usually a part of the agenda. The main center had a nice display and a lot of information about the grounds. The staff was helpful. The gift...More

The "tour" is not so interesting. Nothing to see, just some text to read. But the park is very enjoyable for a short walk or for an after-work run. You can expect to see some deers and tons of squirrels.

This is my favorite place to walk. It doesn't matter what time of year or what the weather conditions are, you are always protected by the dense tree coverage. Being a military park there is a lot of history to discover along the way, it...More

Why did military troops wear bright colors and fight in a sea of green trees? I didn't learn that answer but learned a lot more in this small park encased in the surrounding urban area. The park had great displays and info. No sugar coating...More

I usually walk the Greensboro A&Y trails, but chose recently to walk the Guilford Courthouse National Battleground Park. On those sunny warm days, there is good shade. The tarmac roads and trains are well maintained. There is a bathroom if the need arises. The trains...More

Just got your question. Hope this answer isn't too late. I spent about 30 minutes there since I teach US History and the staff was overly accommodating to me. There is a brief film and the outside buildings.
Are there picnic areas?

There are no picnic areas in the battlefield park out if respect. What the others here are referring to is called Country Park which is right next to the battlefield. There are short trails between them.

You can call 336-525-3009 and it will start the tour. It also sends you a link to the web site that was a little easier to use.
