Very old and nice town on the water. Not easy to visit without speaking Chinese though, I had a big help of my local guide. It was raining which made a bit less fun but many things to visit indoors too. Recommended.

Spent a weekend at Zhouzhuang Water Town after a business trip in Shanghai. Enjoyed the local fares for lunch which are very fresh ( you see the local fishes / river prawns and clams swimming in the tanks before the chef whips up the dishes)....More

You could combine Suzhou and Zhouzhang. Travel from Shanghai to Suzhou and stay overnight, travel onto Zhouzhang the next morning, visit the water town then and return to Shanghai the following morning

I am planning to take the early morning train from Shanghai to Suzhou and trying to figure out how to get to Zhouzhuang. If anyone know the direct way, Or how far by taxi, I would appreciate it.

There is a local bus directly from Shanghai to there, but last the return bus is early in the evening, alternately you can take a cab from there to the nearest subway and return late, see my comments on this place for more... More
