This famous Sree Krishna temple in Ambalapuzha is a must place to visit in Alleppey. The atmosphere is so divine and calm. The Palpayasam is very tasty that you might ask for more.

Gorgeous ancient temple with hundreds of devotees gathering regularly for worshipping Krishna.Huge kitchen to cook prasadam(holy rice for offering the devotees). One temple-elephant was there.Painful to watch the animal chained but that's the age-old tradition.

Their unusual rule of taking off shirts for males before entering the main complex of the temple doesn't make it a tourist place at all. Also it was wierd from them to ask for donations when someone requested for Prasad.

There is no dress code. But you should dress modestly. Men can wear Dhoti, but not lungi. You can also wear pants or jeans. Women can wear saree, salwar, pants etc. avoid micros or minis.
