This is the mausoleum of ruler of Bijapur - Mohammad Adil Shah. The construction of the monument was commission in 17th Century and it took 30 years to build. It's a masterpiece of Deccan architecture and is the second largest dome in the world. The central hall has the tomb of Mohammad Adil Shah. Through stairs one can reach the... More

In Gol Gumbaz, the tomb is pretty big. Specialities of this place is "Whispering Gallery" inside the dome, where even the softest sound can be heard on the other side of the mausoleum. Once you reach the top, sit in one the benches, and ask your fellow traveler to sit in the opposite bench. Now you can just whisper and... More

Firstly, you will be really attracted to the visuals of the building from the gates itself. It is highly recommended to hire a guide to understand the intricacy of this architecture. The guides are available at the fee of Rs.200, regardless of the members in your group. This tomb of Adil Shah is a miraculous wonder. The top floor where... More

Gol Gumbaz is a towering monument which one can see from miles when approaching Bijapur. It is basically a tomb of one of the Adil Shahi Sultans and his family members. The striking feature of this monument is its large hemispherical dome supported only along the circumference. If one climbs to the top there is a gallery along the circumference... More

It was tiring to climb 9 floors and 300 steps - but its worth going to the top of the Gumbaz. Sound technology is fascinating. PLEASE BOOK GUIDE RAMESH CHAVAN - 9844557378.

With so much history behind the Gol Gumbaz, it is a must see for history buffs. The architecture is awesome. However the upkeep is not upto mark. The entrance fee is nominal & needs to be increased for getting revenue to maintain the monument. The architecture & the intricacies (echo, coin sticking, etc) keeps one glued. Once again pl take... It is essential that you climb up to the whispering gallery. There are seven flights and our guide was very keen that we paused at each level to avoid heart attacks! The gallery is huge and the guards made people be quiet so we could hear our guide at the other side
