Near the Herbert Hoover presidential Library and Museum is a reestablished quaint village - as West Branch looked at the time of Hoover's birth. Included within the historic site is Hoover's birthplace home. It is a tiny two-room house where the 5 hoovers lived (parents...More

The visitor center here is probably the best place to start and the birthplace and collection of his father's blacksmith shop and the Quaker meeting house are all open to be walked through. But be sure to also see the presidential library and museum which...More

The site is in the perfect location right off of I-80 and provides a great spot to take a stretch break. The site is set up as a village that has been preserved. Immediately when you enter from the visitor's center parking lot, the birthplace...More

This was a informative tour of Hoovers birthplace. Recommend watching video at visitors center, and library. Interesting to see how he lived, and how he never forgot his roots even after being separated from his brother and sister. Read review of library for additional information.

See a blacksmith. Sit in Quaker Meeting House. Walk to the gravesite of President Hoover. A great walk by multiple turn of the century houses.

This site gives a great overview of how Hoover grew up, even though he only lived here in his early years. I doubt most know he was an orphan, a "self made man" through his years at Stanford U before it was "STANFORD", a brilliant...More

Well preserved beautiful small town, there are cottages, work areas, streets that existed when Hoover was a boy. The main town of west branch is adorable too. Not as large as another similar site Colonial Williamsburg, but certainly of the same quality. The fall colors...More
