About
No matter the season, Nami Island is a beautiful destination to visit all year round. Known for appearing in many Korean dramas, the island has numerous lanes lined with pine trees, gingko trees, redwood giants and more. Take a scenic walk along the wooden riverside path and snap a photo with the Winter Sonata statue in Gongsaengwon Garden. You can get to the island via ferry or one of the longest ziplines in Korea. Alternatively, join a popular day trip from Seoul which includes Nami Island, Petite France and Garden of Morning Calm. Some tours include attractions like Mount Seorak or Gangchon Rail Bike as well.

Nami island is bigger than I expected. Don't expect to be entertained while here or else you'll be disappointed. It's a very relaxing and peaceful spot. Lots of scenic areas. It's incredible how many tents were set up. I guess some people like to camp on the island. There are also some lodges and hard roofs over your head if you wish to stay on the island. There are a few restaurants. My recommendation is to pay for a golf cart tour around the island instead of the mini train through the island. The former takes about 30 minutes. Once you've returned to your starting point, you can stroll through the island. Overall, it would take around 2-3 hours.

Came here on a day tour from Seoul

Nice area. The ticket gives you a return trip by ferry.

I ended up with about 2 hours probably would have liked 3 hours.

I got to do the main loop of the island. Well set up for visitors. Beautiful natural areas, plenty of places to eat and buy souvenes

There are hotels to stay at and plenty of actives to get involved with.

You could easily spend the whole day here if you want.

Fortunately the island was more or less on our way and we did not make a special trip there. It is certainly not worth it and even hardly a visit when passing by. Actually it is just a crowded park with admittedly nice nature but spoilt by the crowds and music all around. You can see the same in many other places.

It’s a beautiful place with lots to see and to do. It’s worth a trip if you’re visiting Korea. Even though it’s a bit pricey, there are many places to eat. I went on a weekend so it was a bit crowded but didn’t have to wait to get on a short ferry ride.

We got buses and trains there.
I'd advise a cab to/from Gapyeong Station to the ferry/zipwire. If you travel via that station.

It saves waiting for the bus and also being wedged on the bus. I didn't think they could fit anymore people on the bus. ..until they did.

The trip felt like a fair bit of travel from Myeong-dong, Seoul for a day trip that was simply ok. But it would depend on what you are hoping to see or do.

Lots of pretty nature walks. See some animals like chipmunks, peacocks, red squirrels, butterflies etc.
Some bikes to hire. Some Swan shaped pedalos..some cafes and restaurants
Some art installations.

The main reason for us visiting was to zipwire onto it. So for that reason alone- the daytrip there was worth it.

We arrived at the zipwire location. Bought tickets for the family zipwire (there is also a more adventurous faster zip wire to a different island)
Waited about 40mins for our time slot and just browsed some shops.

We were permitted to wear out rucksacks on our front whilst on then zipwire.
It's about a minute or so of thrill seeking.
It felt quite high and fast which was fun.
Lovely views as you zip wire across the water.

The rest of the island is pretty. Some great views. But it was very very busy.
To ensure we had good weather - we went on a Saturday. Not only tourists present but locals too. It was also Holy Hai on the day. It was super busy. Lots of people. The ferries were packed. The cafes/restaurants were full.

Had we known and done more research in advance we probably would have taken a small picnic/ bunch of snacks. Or even participated in Holy Hai as it looked like great fun.
I also would have chosen to go on a weekday where we heard it is quieter.

Overall a good day and good memories.

Sad to say it was one of the most boring places I have visited. Crushed into the boat to get there, nothing on the island to do, totally devoid of anything interesting and after 20 minutes wanted to leave. I suggest you really consider some place more worthwhile

We have been here before, in Autumn, and the place was beautiful with yellow and red autumn leaves. This time, we visited in late December and everything is bare. There is no snow, only bare branches. Doesn't look very attractive. The famous lanes are crowded with people. You can't really take a decent picture.

Besides, it's really cold and not many places you can warm yourself up.

Don't visit in winter (unless it has been snowing I guess?)

Another great venue to view autumn leaves with many opportunities to take beautiful photographs. There are many nice cafes and resturants in the island where you can have a cup of coffee or meal and ice cream and just relax and take in the beautiful autumn colours. We took a day tour from KKday to Garden of Morning Calm and then to Nami Island. Our tour guide Cecilai was excellent. Just before we took a ferry to the island, she brought to have lunch at a dakgalbi restaurant that was very good. One of the highlights of our trip to Korea.

Nami Island should be in your list when you visit SoKor. The ambiance is truly exceptional. There’s a lot to see and experience in this small island. The art installations are mind-blowing! Truly, a worthy place to visit!
