Tony Jr and his tours were fantastic from day one. I cannot give enough gratitude for his organisation of trips as well as helpfulness in general. They clearly know their stuff as not once did they need a Satnav despite some of the various long trips we had, both the driver and himself are gentlemen. Unlike some other Tour guides, Tony has a very humble approach. He followed our Instagram whilst we posted our stay at Ahungalla, we decided to give him a shot & reached out to him, and it turned out to be the best decision, our only regret is that we did not reach out sooner. Tony has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and this is clear whenever a question is raised. We firstly went for the River cruise, which included a stop at the Turtle Sanctuary, a cruise on the river through mangroves and also stopping off at a temple whilst seeing many other great sight-seeing features. We then followed with a stop at a gem mine location and showroom. This then proceeded with the feeding of Turtles at another beach, and finally a stop at Galle and walk around, unfortunately due to time constraints we missed out on the Stilt fishermen. After this trip, it was clear we had every confidence in Tony and his gentleman Driver. We decided to also try a cooking class, which was we were honoured with the assistance of his mother in their home, after going out to pick and learn about various ingredients to produce some local cuisine, which I have to say turned out better than some dishes we had at other locations prior. As we started our trips a bit late on our stay in Sri Lanka, we were running out of time but decided on a Day trip to Kandy, despite the long times going to and from, It was totally worth the journeys as definitely would have been a shame to miss out on visiting of the Sacred Tooth relic temple, as well various stops on the way to try out some fruits. We also visited a tea plantation & a Tea Factory/ showroom, and spice garden, unfortunately we missed out on the pineapple plantation due to as you can imagine tours only starting again, various usual locations were not fully in operation yet. In Kandy we got to go also to the Botanical gardens, which surprisingly was really interesting to see such a variety of plantation in one location, whilst also provided entertainment from the local Monkeys. We also had a great lunch from on top of the City. On the way back determined as I was to try some famous Kottu from Kandy, Tony ensured of this and we made a stop at a really nice restaurant to enjoy this great dish. By the end of the 3rd trip, we had grown so fond of Tony and his driver that we asked if they would provide a Transfer to the airport as well, in which they were able to. Tony did not have to come on this and could have easily sent just the Driver as it was only a transfer, yet he accompanied us. And again I cannot stress the level of gratitude he provided at the airport, as we were initially denied entry to due lack of PCR test even though the UK did not require this ! Tony thankfully had "words" with the staff and we made it through. From the bottom of my heart, please feel free to contact me if anyone wants any insight or further reference for Tony and his tours, I would be happy to provide any information I have. I also would note, tourism is only just starting to kick off again in Sri Lanka as I write this, so some things may not be in full swing, but by all means does not mean we did not enjoy all of it regardless. But just something to be respectful and aware of due to post pandemic situations. Thank you so much again Tony Tours ! Really hope to see you again in the near future !

We returned to the Hotel Riu Sri Lanka for 2 weeks starting Wednesday March 10th and was there as the corona virus pandemic raced across the world. Fortunately, I had pre booked 5 excursions with Tony De Silva before we left home, however the last 3 were cancelled due to the curfew. We did the Madu river cruise which was only a couple of hours long and 10 minutes from the hotel on the Thursday morning. The scenery was superb, and the laid-back boat ride was the perfect introduction to our holiday. On the Saturday, we did an overnight trip to Udawale National Park and Ella. The 3.30am start was worth it as we were waiting in our safari truck for the gates to open a 5.45 as it got light. We saw far more animals than on our previous visit which was later in the day. After watching the elephants being fed at the Elephant Orphanage we headed for Ella. On route we took in a couple of scenic waterfalls. Being the end of the dry season, they were not as spectacular as they would be in the wet season, but they were impressive all the same. Along with the cancelled trips to Yala and the whale watching trip, they give us a good excuse to return at the end of the year (corona virus permitting) to see them in all their glory. Last thing of the day was a visit to Nine Arch Bridge which is on the Ella to Kandy railway over which we would cross the next day. It is as the name suggests, built in bricks and spans a deep ravine. Built by the British, along with the rest of the railway, in the early 1900’s, it is a fantastic feat of engineering when you consider that most of it was built by hand. We booked into the Ravan Face Hotel which is just outside Ella. The views from our bedroom were breath-taking. Set on the side of a hill we had panoramic views from our bedroom of a waterfall on the other side of the valley and the railway climbing around the hillside. The hotel was basic but very clean and tidy. The bar was open plan with the same panoramic views and with large ice-cold Lion beers at less than £2 made a great place to spend the end of the evening. Our guide, Little Tony, dropped us of at a restaurant he recommended in the centre of Ella. Steak and chips for two and 3 660ml bottles of beer for about £18 seemed very reasonable to me and was delicious. We had another early start the next morning to catch the 6.40am train from Ella to Numara Eliya. There was about 50 people waiting but Little Tony said that there was usually about 300-400 people on a normal day. The lack of passengers proved to be advantageous as our carriage was nearly empty and, prompted by Tony, we could move from side to side of the carriage to enjoy the best views. The journey took about 3 hours and to say the scenery was spectacular is an understatement. Our journey ended at Numara Eliyah, also known as Little England, which is the highest town in Sri Lanka. We met up with our driver again here and returned to Riu Sri Lanka taking in various points of interest and scenic views on the way. This trip is one I would thoroughly recommend and hope to repeat sometime. Both our tours were in modern comfortable cars with a driver and Tony as guide on the Madu river trip and Little Tony on the Ella trip. Both proved to be very knowledgeable and helpful. We hope to return to Sri Lanka as soon as things get back to normal and will not hesitate to contact Tony Tours to do the tours that was cancelled this time.

we found Tonys tours on trip advisor and thought with all the good reviews we would give him a go well what a fantastic friendly and knowledgeable tour company. I along with my family totally 6 people got tony to pick us up at airport. the minibus was clean and very comfortable and we had young Tony who was lovely. Since then we have used him for 2 tours and minibuses into town but he always adds little bits extra showing you places that big tour companys dont and are very very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend using Tony's tours
