Fantstic location to visit

They clearly care deeply about the Turtles and it shows, would like there to be larger 'tanks' for some of the bigger Turtles but they clearly care for them with all the facilities at hand. Informative and enjoyable, I highly recommend a visit.

Our hotel was a 20 minute walk along the beach to this site. The staff were very knowledgable about the turtles and also very passionate. They save turtles who are injured and also put baby turtles back into the ocean once they are a week old which for a fee you can do yourselves. Which was an excellent experience.

Must visit and support their great work

At this centre they dig up Turtle eggs when laid on the adjacent beach then re bury them in sand pits in their centre to protect them from predators.
When hatched they look after the baby Turtles then release them into the sea at 1 week old.
They also look after injured Turtles releasing them when strong enough or keeping them if they are too injured to survive on their own.
It's not a large place and very basic but need the support of tourists

I liked this place but felt it needed a cash injection so the tanks could be made bigger. It is helping turtles but the bigger one’s look like they are stuck in small tanks and not allot of room. It was great to see them and hear the stories about them but just felt it should be bigger. Keep up the good work tho

What a great experience to see new born turtles being raised and rescued turtles being rehabilitated. We were very lucky to experience and be involved in the releasing of some 5 day old turtles onto the beach. It is only a short experience but the guides were great and full of knowledge and well worth every second.

Is it really conservation? Are we hypocrites for going anyway?

One of the bucket list items is to release a turtle to the ocean. In terms of protection from poaching of turtle eggs this I can see as a positive. However...

Some of the baby turtles we were told were kept for up to 4 weeks before being released, we assume to meet the ‘demand’ of tourists and having enough to release presumably on a daily basis. 1000RS to enter pp and then 2000RS per turtle to release. It is a blessing that everyone releases at the same time so it’s not just 1 turtle on its own.

The harrowing part is...
We saw some ‘saved’ baby turtles. One had a semi deformed shell. Could have been lost in translation but he insinuated it would stay at the centre. If truly about conservation, you let it have its chances rather than life time in there.

You obviously have to appreciate that the facilities in other countries are far more advanced in terms of animal husbandry but...The injured turtles (some very large) are kept in small concrete tanks. Also some appear to be kept there potentially for longer than needed to ensure there are some for tourists to gawp at.

A mixed experience as we are hypocrites for going and paying into it (how much actually goes to rehab of turtles?), but we assume that whatever centre you go to, it’d be the same?

A good place to visit if you are traveling to down south. You can find many varieties of turtles and some rare fish such as tiger fish
