Had a paid table in front of the stage area about halfway back. Other tables were loud and rude and when I addressed one table asking that they respect quiet because of other people wanting to hear, they looked at me like I was in...More

Simply put, this is one of my favorite events to attend in Madison. Plan accordingly and you'll likely be like me and look forward to relaxing Wednesday evenings on the capital lawn. My recommendations: Plan to arrive around 5:30. It's on an isthmus, it's rush...More

We had looked forward to finally attending COS, but were thoroughly disappointed by the "performance" of the audience. Attendance was estimated at 50,000, and nearly all of them seemed to have come to socialize rather than to listen to the music. Fortunately we were close...More

Madison audiences care about the music. So if you choose to sit on the square, you may be shushed for any talking during the music. This helps make it a nice crowd event. People behaving! Bring a picnic or pick up a boxed dinner. Beverages...More

FREE to anyone, this annual event runs a few weeks through the summer months, always on Wednesday evenings. Enjoy the music on the lawn of the State Capitol Building (and have some wine with your picnic.) Highly rated, even for non-symphony lovers.
