Peaceful oasis. Take the Charles Street streetcar here & get off opposite Loloya University. Aim straight away from Charles Street towards the lake & you will be greeted by this huge flock of whistling ducks, on the lakeside, in the water and, surely not, yes, they are - nesting in trees! Actually, it's not all that peaceful, because the birds... More

If you're looking for a quiet place for a jog or early morning stroll away from the busy French Quarter area this is a good option. Park is very quiet and pretty (an is a complete loop).

The park is amazing to go for picnic and group activities. It has very pretty lake and it end by the university which is worth checking it out. The magazine street itself is also interesting it has a lot of shops to check out

Before touring, went there for a walk. Great park. Pet friendly. Nice views. Big and spacious park. Good place to get some excercise in to walk off high caloric intake.

We rented bikes in the city, and biked to Audubon Park where we then did a couple loops. It was a great way to see some of the city.

During the summer the heat is on so please bring water, sunscreen and comfortable shoes being cause you will in some parts be in the shade and out in the elements. You are walking for miles and a water bottle is something you should bring because when buying water at the concession stand it can be pricey.

The Charles st trolley was broken, and it looked like a long ride, so we took an Uber from Canal st. Still a 20 minute ride. But nice to see the beautiful houses around the park. The golf course kind of breaks up the serenity of the nature scene, but it's still a nice atmosphere after the noise of Bourbon... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
