A really marvelous park to walk around and take in the beauty and ambiance and there are many fountains and sculptures to view. The park is easy to get to from the French Quarter, just take the St. Charles streetcar right to entrance, it will take about 25 minutes. You can also visit the zoo which is at the other... More

You need to find some peace and quiet if you stay in New Orleans very long, and this is a great place to do it. I recommend taking the St Charles Street car out there. Walk along the lagoon and stop at Bird Island to admire the broad variety of birds. Be sure to pull up a bench or sit... More

If you want to slow down from a typical visit to New Orleans, grab some food to go and have a picnic here. The park has runners and bikers that travel the two mile loop in the center of the park, but you can also just sit and people watch. Hope off the street car and relax.

A nice place to go! from St. Charles Ave where the street car runs, you can walk south and enjoy the beautiful park, old trees, trails and even get to the river to watch the sunset with your cheese and wine.

This is a very large park, so bring your walking shoes, the trails are nice and clean, the atmosphere is Awesome. There are fountains along the way to wet your whistle, they have a golf course. Start at on top at St Charles take in the views.

Take the St Charles street car to the park entrance and walk through this beautiful park across Magazine Street to the lower part and the Zoo. Beautiful trees abound and oh so many great birds.

We took the tram from central New Orleans and seemed to have come into a little slice of peace. We were on out way to the zoo but the walk there was just as lovely. Really recommned this.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
