We rode the Canal St trolley down to the cemeteries. You can drive in to Cypress but it is small. Anyway what a neat place to see and a must see while in NOLA. The tombs are some amazing works of art and the craftsmanship that went into making them is just amazing. We spent about hour wondering around before... More

Just get the streetcar marked "cemeteries" and get off at the terminus. These places are really interesting and you can spend hours looking around. They are not creepy although I felt that taking photos was not quite the correct thing to do. Some real history here. Jus check on opening and closing times although, at a push, you can see... More

Driving along the freeway, you can view the cemetery. We made plans to visit. The children were a bit apprehensive, but eventually got over it and began to listen to the rich history attached to the tombs and mausoleums. It was a good history lesson learning about the "Cities of the Dead" and why they have that name, but upon... More

We took a trolly car from downtown New Orleans to the end of the line, which was at Greenwood Cemetery. It looked interesting and we had nothing better to do, so we went in for a look. There were other tourists inside, but we didn't see any "tours of the cemetery" as such. We were content just to wander around... More

A small taste of a NOLA cemetery. You can drive slowly through the cemetery which was appealing. We had the place to ourselves on a Sunday morning so we could get out and check out the unique style of burial in the city. The tours you can take for the other cemeteries seemed like they were quite long and in... More

Who puts cemeteries on their list of tourist stops? This girl! Typically they freak me out, but you can only go during the day in NOLA. It's definitely a site to see with the impressive mosoleums. We went to Greenwood first and it was nicer than the others that mainly looked less maintained. We chose not to do a cemetery... More

It was raining when we visited Cypress Grove, but it was still worth it. I think any of the cemeteries are going to offer an interesting experience.

I've always wanted to see up close/in person how the city cemeteries are. There were headstones from the very early 1800s, and I wished I'd been on a walking tour so that I could have asked questions and learned more.

Took the red line trolley out here we ventured in to take a peek. Didn't see a lot of people here.... The structures not sure what they are called are really interesting. Some made of concrete and some of marble. Lots of really cool ones. Not sure how many people these hold but some had lots of names on them.... More

This is a huge cemetery. We drove through to look at the history and mystique of the tombs and mausoleums. There were some that were in the 1800's.
