We styed in this neighborhood and did a "Tours By Foot" which was awesome as we really learned a lot about the history of the area. The architecture is so interesting and there are a lot of little cafes and restaurants, it is a nice...More

I love the Fauborg Marigny neighborhood, it's funky and interesting. Many hole in the wall bars and restaurants. The houses are beautiful, even when they are rotting and falling down. Even the decay is interesting!

I'm no expert, but as 60-somethings, we felt very safe walking in the day time. Charming architecture.

If you want to get a sense of what the French Quarter must have been like before becoming the international destination for people who want to binge-drink during the day and pee on the street at night, this is definitely a must see. Our second...More

We saw the district & Frenchman's St thru a guided walking tour, great to see the architecture and history. The district is going thru a revival & restoration which is great to see the old unrestored beside those taking on a new life.

If you go into Faubourg Marigny from Frenchmen Street you see some wonderful parts of the city with stunning houses - some being sold by Southeby's. Some good eating places too.

The area is certainly up and coming with new bars and great restaurants. One may feel the neighborhood is a bit seedy, but it is safe. There is alot of restoration going on and you can tell this will be the NEW place to be.

The other reviews of FM speak to all that is so right on with this side of NOLA. From the best music to the best BBQ (see The Joint reviews) all set amidst architecture that matched the late October 2016 weather...oh so Caribbean. Just perfect....More

This area is kind of where the locals go at night type of area. It is right next to the French Quarter and has a lot of nightlife and shopping, just not quite as fast as the FQ. Check it out!

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining

From Canal St (Central Bus District) you would follow the river and first you hit the French Quarter, then the Faubourg Marigny and then the Bywater. They are all built along the river, the original city. Short distance... More
