Yes they have moved all the jazz music down here, and music is great, but the venue nothing special.

We always stay in Marigny as it's away from the cluster of the Bourbon Street area but close enough for easy walking access. There's plenty of nice restaurants, bars and shops and you'll only notice a little less crowds. It can be very busy at night but still not as crazy as Bourbon Street. It's a nice safe area to... This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, sitting right next to the French Quarter (THE oldest). As happens in many cities, this area previously was in serious decline, and was basically a dingy, dangerous slum. However, when the World's Fair came, investors started buying up properties in the French Quarter, displacing the residents who did not want... More

Want to know what it's like to really live in New Orleans? Visit "the Marigny". Fun, funky, with great eats and cool music. You can't go wrong. Way, way better than Bourbon St. (as any local will tell you.)

We stayed with some friends in the Marigny. I can tell you that it is the place to be! Close to everything and relatively quiet. We had a marvelous time. There is a little restaurant called Horns on Touro that is a must try!

This neighborhood is very residential. We stayed at a B&B and felt right at home. There are lots of lovely homes and some works in progress. There is a street car line going in on St. Claude. We were happy with the proximity of the neighborhood to Frenchmen Street. Felt safe at all hours.

This area was unknown to me so I wasn't sure of what to expect. The old, original homes, the cafes and the walkability of all of it made it a great location to stay in.

Young and hyped neighborhood of New Orleans that is always an unusual slice of New Orleans life. It used to be the up and coming neighborhood, yet AirBNB has all but ruined its vibe. No one wants to live in an area that is transitional. And who are you?

Just outside the eastern fringe of the French Quarter, this neighborhood is home to several notable clubs that feature local musicians, many of whom are widely known and well regarded. Try Snug Harbor or the Spotted Cat, and look for talent like Ellis Marsalis and his family and other proteges, as well as guys like Trombone Shorty and Jon Cleary,... More
