St Louis Cathedral gets most of the attention, but ICJC is a GEM of little jewelbox, tucked in the CBD just off Canal. The most gloriously beautiful and yet, at the same time, intimate church I've seen! We were there for the St Joseph's Altar, but I can't wait to come back for solitude and further exploration.

I first attended a wedding there and then got hooked on the beauty. It was just several blocks from the LePavillon Hotel making walking to Midnight Mass easy and safe.

My girlfriend, who is Catholic, asked me (non-Catholic) to go to Sunday morning Mass with her. The architecture, sculptures, history, and everything about this church were amazing. The pastor gave a great homily/sermon, and the lady who led the singing sounded like an angel from the heavens. If we had time on another trip to this area, I would like... More

There's no need to travel to Germany when you have this spectacular church right here in New Orleans, along with a beautiful service.

Stately and gothic with a Moorish-meets-Irish twist. Leave it to the Jesuits to completely confound visitors and parishioners alike with a structure that is alive with beautiful stained glass, soaring ceilings, mosaic shrines, and points of interest everywhere. From the moment that you walk through the 1,500 pound bronze doors, it is apparent that something significant is going on inside.... More

When exploring the Canal Street area, it's easy to happen upon this large church. The architecture stands out in the area due to the brick construction, and it's a refreshing change from the modern skyscrapers surrounding it.

Across from the Roosevelt Hotel (a Waldorf Astoria property, restored to its splendor). Beautiful church inside. A special place for a wedding or memorial. Rich history

We went to this beautiful church for mass on Sunday morning. The sermon was simple but relevant for our times. Definitely one of the highlights of our visit.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
