Under New Management, So Give Them a Try

I've loved the old courtyard for years, but the place never quite held up to other choices in the neighborhood. It's under new management now, and I stopped in for lunch. What a... read more

Easily my new favorite!! -First off, the food is to die for. Got the fried chicken sandwich last night and it was phenomenal! The tenderness of the chicken, the batter, the sauce, bread, all of it... feel very homemade-fresh, but prepped by an excellent chef :) Had the cheeseburger tonight. The way it's dressed is unique, the meat, everything.. deliciously... More

Amazing atmosphere! Loved the courtyard. The bartender made our visit. (shout out to Nicholas!) We stopped in for happy hour while walking by and discovered an excellent choice of drinks. We stayed for the food, which was some of the best we've had on our trip. Try the BFGTC sandwich (bacon fried green tomato crab sandwich). The tab was surprisingly... More

I've loved the old courtyard for years, but the place never quite held up to other choices in the neighborhood. It's under new management now, and I stopped in for lunch. What a pleasant surprise to have a "lunch martini" on the menu as a $2 add on! Food and service were good, I hope that Feelings finds its groove,... More

I'm a NOLA girl at heart. I fell in love with the city 20 years ago, and have traveled there several times a year since So I am extremely angry at myself for only just NOW having made it over to Feelings Cafe. When I finally take the plunge and make NO my permanent home, this will be my go... More

For decades, Feelings Cafe & Bistro was a local's favorite, then after Hurricane Katrina, it fell on hard times. Last Spring, Craig Trentacosta, the new owner with fresh, inventive ideas took command, financed a major facelift, hired a brilliant chef, masterful bartenders and personable waitstaff. Craig gave a fresh look to the classically appointed patio, renamed the bar for Elvis... More

I was told about this place by a friend from home, so decided to try it while there this time , as I love to try new places all the time, while still going back to my fav's as well. This little place not far from the Quarter, but out of the crowds, is quite a gem, They have the... More

Delicious food! I had the beet salad & filet mignon. Both were great. The atmosphere was comfortable; dim lighting makes for quiet conversation. The staff was kind, the food was incredible. I'll definitely go back.

I was in New Orleans for the 1st time with a group of 18 people from Oregon for a 50th birthday celebration. Several people in our group have either lived in NOLA or visited many many times and with that we had a full schedule of things to see and do. This is the only place that many of us... More

Feelings has been there for many years. A typical Marigny neighborhood larger than usual "hole in the wall, if ambitious restaurant, frequented by nearby residents, home towners, and explorers. It was always a bit seedy, worn at the edges, dark, with a menu that worked - sometimes - but with atmosphere galore. A new wind has blown in off the... More

We fell upon this restaurant on the way to some place else. Peering through the window to see silver and linen and the attractive interior along with the interesting (and not too extensive menu) seemed to be out of context with the quiet, residential neighbourhood. The courtyard setting was romantic in a sophisticated but unpretentious way. The service was warm... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
