What an enjoyable few hours we spent on the Cathedral Spires Trail in Custer State Park on a beautiful Spring day. Blue markers direct your way, but there are too few of them! The trail is a little difficult to follow as you are often...More

I'd say it is a moderate hike. Our 9 yr old did it with no problems. Us adults had to step carefully in some spots, but not technical hiking. Great view, pretty area to sit for awhile. Spotted some rock climbers up in the distance,...More

Great short hike. Not too strenuous for the initial hike to the spires. Was fine four our group of 4 couples ages 63-70. The last few yards require some scrambling up rocky steps and boulders. Lots of photo ops. Sneakers work fine.

Definitely worth the hour or so to hike in and back. Beautiful views. We also came very close to deer and mountain goats.

This is a pretty short hike that we would rate moderate in effort expended. There are many rock steps to climb as you negotiate the trail, but the steps and trail are all easily done if you just take your time. The views all along...More

Loved the hike, but no special views or anything special to see. We then took the spur trail over to Little Devil's Tower and were blown away by the views there!

We went early and found a parking space, in the shade! Mostly uphill going and an easy downhill back. There are some steep and rocky parts of the trail but mostly solid footing. The open meadow near the end of the trail with spires and...More

I'm an overweight 60 year old and managed the 700 vertical feet with some huffing and puffing but it was worth it. After seeing the spires from the Needles Hwy it was great to be able to walk up into them.

Amazing. Must do! Somewhat easy. However, it's a big climb up with lots of rocks to climb. Take time to climb on the spires at the top. We had kids ages 13-4. All had a blast.

The trail starts out without a lot of elevation change. That takes you to the base of some of the spires. From there the trail makes a short but steeper climb and then flattens out again as you head around the back of the... More
