Great Views

The tunnels keep you on your toes and would hate to be here in peak season as must jam up like Manhattan.

Travel this from South to North so as your going through the mountain you see Mount Rushmore. A windy narrow Road that has beautiful scenery all the way through. A Must Drive... Do not miss it.

It was an amzing view, but is extremely difficult to take pictures. It's on a busy road that at least the day I we went many were speading, felt like if you weren't watching you could get hit. Other than that an amazing view worth seeing.

There are places to stop and sight see. The drive was fun. Scenery cannot be beaten. I imagine the road gets more congested during the season. I recommend off-season to take it all in to the max.

The road mostly two way, and contains plenty of sharp and narrow turns, so be careful especially if it is raining, give the way to the motorcyclist if any, you can see a parking spot of the shoulders if you like to stop for photos or to change your direction, don’t miss any part of it.

THIS is the road to take to Rushmore. If it's out of the way drive to it and get up there via Iron Mountain Road. An incredible drive that shows you Rushmore from many angles on the way there that you won't forget and as a bonus the drive itself is amazing.

We have made some really great drives with spectacular scenery in the US: the PCH from LA to Seattle, the rim around the Grand Canyon, the eastern seaboard from Annapolis to Key West, the roads through Zion, Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks. But none of them compares with this. The narrow tunnels hewn out of rock, the pigtail turns,... More

This is a great scenic drive, with cool tunnels and bridges - and if you are heading toward Rushmore, you'll be treated to some great views as you come around some bends.

A great drive with great views. Love the little tunnels and pigtail bridges. It's a beautiful drive on a nice day. We had wonderful weather in February, so had no trouble with snow, but I imagine you would have to be careful in bad weather. A must see if you're in the area.
