One of Austria's top 3 destinations amidst the Alps The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is like an ornament of ribbons located between green mountain pastures, colourful flower meadows, rocky rubble, ice and show. It nestles up against hills, follows the course of the natural ground and fits the mountains like a glove. Whooshing waterfalls, the shrill whistling of marmots and the howling wind in the summit regions create an unforgettable high alpine soundscape. And then, all of a sudden, he appears: his majesty, the Grossglockner, the black mountain. Join us for a journey beyond compare up high to the perpetual ice of the glacier!

We left Salzburg and drove over this road into Heillingblut. What an amazing trip. We loved every single minute of the wildflowers, the waterfalls, the farmers on their tractors, the marmots, oh and did I mention the mountains - the stars of this amazing road. If you are in Austria - you must drive the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

One of the best road I have ever driven my motorbike. Nature of the Grossglockner is fantastic, although entrance fee is a bit to high for my taste.

We would hate to have been on this road during the high season. As it was we went in late September and there were plenty of cars/bikes/buses & motorbikes. The road has incredible views and circa 40 hairpin bends which made for interesting driving. The lookout points give excellent views of mountains, valleys and glaciers. We are glad we did... More

One of the best views I have ever seen. I would love to go again, and I have been there twice... the first time when I was a child, I liked to play in the snow... Last time (as a grown-up) it was all about the view.

This was huge! You can drive as high as 2511 km with your car. It costs around 35 euros and it's worth it. In the beginning the weather was fine and the sun was shining but on the other side when drove through a tunnel the weather changed dramatically. On the other side there was winter. NICE!!! Amazing view where... More

If you go to Austria don't miss a visit to this attraction with its amazing scenery, alpine air, flora and fauna with load of walking opportunities. I visited as part of a Riviera Tour and it was one of the highlights of the holiday. A place I will always remember.

This is the must place to see! We visited in sunny but a little cold day for october weather and lucky for us it was open. The top of our visit was there! The views are stunning, it was windy in the last stops and it felt almost unreal in some panoramic points. Don't forget warm clothes .

Definitely worth the trip over this Highway. Spectacular, scenic vistas. This time of year nearly had the place to ourselves. Road will close soon, due to weather...

A must-do road trip when you are in the area. Spectacular scenery, winding roads - many places to stop and visit different visitors centers. Very educational and entertaining!
