One of Austria's top 3 destinations amidst the Alps The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is like an ornament of ribbons located between green mountain pastures, colourful flower meadows, rocky rubble, ice and show. It nestles up against hills, follows the course of the natural ground and fits the mountains like a glove. Whooshing waterfalls, the shrill whistling of marmots and the howling wind in the summit regions create an unforgettable high alpine soundscape. And then, all of a sudden, he appears: his majesty, the Grossglockner, the black mountain. Join us for a journey beyond compare up high to the perpetual ice of the glacier!

Awesome for driving, it's worth those EUR 35.50 Euros, it's for driving yours out and to push them to it's limits, it's a one day pass you're getting, so enter and exit as you wish, as many times as you like. If you would like...More

As part of our motorcycle vacation we made a trip through the grossglockner. It was a very impressive drive with the bike however it was a bit crowded (driving 30km/h behind a bus with little possibility to get past it safely.)

The best way to approach is from the north as you gradually get the build up of height and views. Go on a sunny day but in high summer it must get really busy I imagine. the tickets include a range of museums and places...More

We stayed locally at Chateux Hotel Senger, so we started on the pass early. It exceeded expectations. We've driven Route Napoleon & various passes in the Swiss Alps- this has been my favourite. A striking steep mountain pass, moving from lush green hills to rocky...More

We come from the Rockies in Canada so snow covered mountain roads are daily life, but this place is something else. If you are a car/driving/photography fan, this is a MUST do. The roads are absolutely breathtaking. The amount of effort the local people put...More

We drove the Großglockner in early May. When we started on the road, it was already a bit foggy and snowy, and we were warned to go slow and be very safe. We made a few stops because we were basically in a white out,...More

Go up there and enjoy some breathtaking views close to austria's highest peak that will be worth the toll price. You'll also see some awesome glacier.
