Every even with covid they raise prices. Today I bought 59.5 euro ticket in Mayrhofen (Penkenbahn) with plans to ski in "Hintertuxer Gletscher", but when come to it they said that my ticket is not valid and i need buy other one (+ 59.5 euro). On their site, big lightbox near cashdesk, different printed material (=everywhere) Mayrhofner Bergbahnen AG puts "Hintertuxer Gletscher" in the left-up cornet so everyone could understand this is included, but in reallity NO and they do false advertising. Finally they refuse of moneyback, turning this case to the chargeback complaint for my bank.

Ahorn is not the greatest area, but very friendly, nice slopes and highly new and modern, great with kids and fun for a day

This is the second time visit to Mayrhofren. There has been an upgrade to Penkenbahn to a 24 pax 3S unit. However, queuing at Penkenbahn is still extensive; especially during morning peak. Nevertheless, the queuing at Penken is a whole lot better.

There are bottlenecks elsewhere; particularly at the 150er Tux accessing Rastkogel and 6SB Schneekar for Horgerg.

On the slope, Harakiri piste remains extremely challenging. Finkengerg and Horberg areas are good for intermediates. Area above Penken could be busy with ski school classes. Rastkogel area is mainly above treeline, quite featureless; but worth visiting on a sunny day and let it rip. It is also worth spending a morning on Ahorn for easy rides, visit the White Lounge. Ski back down to the base station is via a black run, but not as steep as Harakiri.

Overall, Mayrhofren is an average resort in terms of infrastructure. Lifts are pretty much at capacity for most of the day. Ski slopes can be crowded. New hotels are emerging and putting more bling to the town.

Ahorn ski tele cabin is one stop ahead of Penkenbahn. Great views up and down. Good snow and great slopes at the top. Be prepared to endure difficult times even on blue ones. Enjoy the snowpark if you do like fun.

First time in Austria and we’re very impressed with quality of runs and lifts. A whole range of cafes on the mountain from cheap and cheerful to smart. No queues mostly.

The resort was lovely, busy and lively at night. Mayrhofen has something for everyone and generally is a good resort for all. Vast amount of slopes more or immediate and advance skiers to explore as predominantly red runs could do with more blues to link up lifts also slope markers never indicated how long slop was or at what stage you were going down it which was frustrating.

All in all I would definetely recommend Mayrhofen and Ahorn, the black run to the bottom is brilliant.

Good ski slopes and facilities. For all ages and different levels of skiers. It can be really crowded during the holiday but otherwise the slopes are wide.

Well worth the effort. I was petrified before I hopped on the Pekenbahn, but the experience was wonderful

The Ahornbahn cable car is quite different to the Penkenhahn- it’s a single stage journey using two large cars that travels up or down every 15mins or so. At the top of the journey there’s lots of do, especially if you have children. There’s quite a reasonable planned walk that takes you around all the areas of interest although we thought the path claimed to be suitable for prams would have been a bit ambitious in places.Particularly worth visiting is the Filzenalm- a genuine ancient alm house and farm located just off the Ahornbahm hiking trail at the same point as the Filzenalm Viewing Platform and the Petting Zoo. The Almhouse has a surprisingly good range of drinks (including their own full milk- like nothing you’ve tasted before) and their beers are cheaper than what we pay in the hotel we’re staying at). Virtually all the seating is outside as is the only toilet but the visit is definitely worthwhile.
