This museum has parking for about 5-10 cars. Someone here said to park at the Locks (meaning the federal facility next door). The Locks parking lot is already overflowing in the summer and on sunny weekends. You might rather wish to take the 44 Seattle...More

We were lucky enough to be invited to the “sneak preview” of the museum which opens May 5. Beautiful spaces, amazing artifacts. There is ample parking behind the museum or park at the Ballard Locks and walk the grounds of this beautiful park before or...More

I happen to live in Scandinavia and I always felt that the history of Scandinavian immigration to America was never really well told here. This museum rectifies that very well with a ton of items, photos, signs and others. It is very peaceful and interesting...More

Such an important place to visit. Ballard is historically represented here. The new building not open as of Oct. 2017 will be incredible. New spot on the water, just east of the locks. Large boats, lots of interesting history and I will visit again in...More

This is a lovely museum with life-alike exhibits of Scandinavians lifestyle after moving to the US. If you are interested in the subject, you definitely should visit.

This museum is currently housed in an old school building. The building is being turned back into a school, so unfortunately the museum will be moving. When we visited, about a third of the museum was already closed as they're packing stuff up. What we...More

I really enjoyed following the journey of Nordic immigrants from the Hjemland to America. The exhibits were better than I expected and I will be sure to return to Seattle to visit when the museum is moved to its new home.
