The statue of Lenin on the corner should clue you in to the fact that everything about this neighborhood is alternative. Vegetarian cafes, eclectic shops, coffee houses, bookstores and street artists abound.

We were pleased to notice that this town had much more to offer than merely just a troll hiding under a big bridge.

This neighborhood of Seattle has plenty of character. Lots of local eateries. We visited the Fremont troll statue under the Fremont bridge--look for the Volkswagen incorporated in this art piece. Local favorites: JP Ptches and Gertude have their own statue. Don't miss the Stalin statue....More

We stayed in the Hotel Hotel Hostel. Fabulous decision by my husband. Fremont is quirky and not millenialified (is that a word) like Ballard etc. Really a fun, walkable, accessible place to stay. Great restaurants and watering holes. The Sunday market was an added bonus.

We stayed in a VRBO in Fremont recently. What a wonderful place to walk and shop easy access to some great urban parks. Highlights were a visit with the Troll and stopping by the chocolate factory. Lots of the bikes for hire are all around...More

Fremont is weird in the best ways. There's a troll. A sculpture that people like to dress up (Waiting for the Interurban). A statue of Lenin. More quirky little restaurants and bars than seem reasonable. Also, naked bicyclists. Fremont is a must-see place for tourists...More

A neat little neighborhood to walk through. Eclectic items all throughout the area. Good food items. Good coffee and other drink items. A good assortment of food in the area. Been here now a couple of times and it is always a new adventure.

Fremont might be getting way too gentrified, but it's still a great place to spend a few hours. Lots of interesting boutiques, coffee shops (especilally tiny ETG Coffee), and walking and biking paths on both sides of the canal. It's easy to walk or bike...More

satnav took us to this by accident, we thought it was a deadend but it was a T junction. Was surprized how big it was.

If you go to fremont visit the Theo chocolate factory and the quirky neighborhood. while there check out the troll. Don't make a trip just for this one sculpture though.

Lots of fun things to see in this artists' district. My guide from Seattle Sidewalks explained that the troll under the bridge was created to be a tourist attraction and deter drug traffic. Fremont also has some interesting sculpture like the statue of folks waiting...More
